Year 3 - Year 6 Updates

Year 3

The Year Threes have made a fantastic start to Term 4. They have settled back into their learning and classroom routines with confidence, enthusiasm and plenty of energy. In Literacy, we have been exploring the art of persuasion by writing a variety of persuasive texts. The students are learning how to use strong, forceful language to capture their readers’ attention, express their opinions and convince others to see their point of view. In Religion, we have begun discovering more about the life of Mary and her important role in our faith. In Mathematics, we are revising our money skills and developing our investigative skills as we explore data, collect information and interpret our findings. A highlight of our first two weeks will be the Swimming Carnival this Friday. We can't wait to cheer on our classmates, show our school spirit and enjoy a fun-filled day in the pool!

Year 4

Year 4 have had a wonderful start to Term 4! In Literacy, we have been enjoying His Name Was Walter by Emily Rodda and have begun exploring myths and legends from around the world. We have also been developing our comprehension skills by answering retrieval questions and making predictions, alongside completing a writing moderation task. In Mathematics, we have revisited the four operations to consolidate our number skills and will soon be moving on to our unit on time. In Religious Education, we have commenced our new unit, God, Religion and Life, beginning with an exploration of the Holy Trinity and the relationship between God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. There is plenty of excitement in Year 4 as we begin our Bike Ed program this week! We are also looking forward to the upcoming Swimming Carnival and all the fun and participation it will bring.

Year 5

The Year Fives have made a fantastic start to Term 4, settling back into their learning and routines with enthusiasm!

In Maths, we have been exploring data handling, conducting statistical investigations and presenting our findings. In Literacy, we have begun developing our persuasive writing skills and enjoying our new class novel, The Last Bear by Hannah Gold. In Religion, we have been exploring different understandings of God, including how God is represented across faith traditions.

We have also launched our new Inquiry unit, Bizarre Bazaar, and kicked off Bike Education, where students have been developing their cycling skills and road safety awareness. The children have also thoroughly enjoyed their swimming lessons, demonstrating growing confidence in the water.

We are looking forward to the Swimming Carnival this Friday and all the exciting learning and opportunities Term 4 has in store!

Year 6

Year 6 have had a busy start to the term, just like the rest of the school, with swimming kicking things off! In the classroom, we have been exploring Location and Transformation in Mathematics, focusing on using Cartesian planes to plot coordinates, reflect and translate shapes. In Literacy, we have begun reading our class novel, The Trials of Morrigan Crow, an exciting fantasy story. Students have enjoyed discussing the characters and making predictions about what might happen next. We have also started exploring our Bizarre Bazaar unit, with students beginning to form teams and brainstorm creative business ideas. We are looking forward to seeing their ideas come to life as their last term at Stella progresses!
