Migrant and Refugee Week Guest Speaker

Assadullah Khurrami – A Powerful Story of Resilience and Hope

Earlier this week, Lumen Christi College was honoured to welcome Assadullah Khurrami as our guest speaker for Migrant and Refugee Week 2025. A former asylum seeker from Afghanistan, Assadullah fled civil war, persecution, and multiple life-threatening attacks after working with the UN and allied forces. Assadullah spoke to our students about his journey to Australia and explained ways that they can show support to those who have made similar journeys. Assadullah is a dedicated advocate for refugee rights, working with the Australian Red Cross and speaking for the Refugee Council of Australia. Our students were inspired by Assadullah's powerful sharing and recognised ways they can promote compassion, resilience and community.
