Year 9 Sleep Consultant Visit

Sleep Consultant Visit – Tara Mitchell and Social Media Campaign Competition on Healthy Habits – Resilience Project

On Wednesday, 18 June during Seminar, the Year 9 cohort had the pleasure of welcoming Sleep Consultant Tara Mitchell.

Tara is a Registered Nurse, Paediatric Sleep Consultant (0–8 years), Paediatric Registered Nurse, and Circle of Security Parenting Facilitator. Her visit marked the beginning of our Resilience Project focus on sleep and wellbeing.

Tara delivered an engaging and informative session on the importance of sleep and shared practical strategies to support healthy sleep habits. Students participated in a fun and interactive Q&A, exploring how sleep affects their mood, behaviour, and overall health. Using their Student Journals, students reflected on how they feel and act when they don’t get enough sleep, then shared their insights with peers. A class discussion followed, diving into key questions such as: Why is sleep important? How does sleep impact our health and mood?

The session was a valuable learning experience, sparking curiosity and thoughtful conversation. We look forward to welcoming Tara back in the future to continue supporting our students’ wellbeing.

As part of Weeks 8–10 of the Resilience Project, students will now launch a positive social media campaign promoting healthy habits, with prizes awarded to the most impactful group efforts.
