From the Principal

As we move through the final weeks of Term Two, it’s been wonderful to witness the energy and engagement across our College community. Our senior students have returned to classes following their Semester One exams, bringing with them a renewed focus. There have been enriching experiences such as the Cert III Music Recording Excursion, the SASJ one-day carnival, the Chemistry Titration Competition, and Murdoch’s Career Curious events. Our observances of Health Week and Migrant & Refugee Week have both offered opportunities for learning, growth, and connection.

Lumen Day was a true highlight of the fortnight since our last Bulletin, marking our 41st year of educating young adults. The day began with a reverent and joyful College Mass, beautifully led by Fr Brennan, and I was especially proud of our students for their excellent behaviour and reverent participation. Despite some rain, spirits remained high as the community came together to celebrate. Teachers were slimed and plunged into the icy water of the dunk tank but not before claiming victory in the traditional staff vs student soccer match - all moments of great fun and camaraderie.

Lumen Day is a reflection of our College’s charism, the Light of Christ, and this was evident in the joy, generosity, and unity shared throughout the day. These shared experiences build the kind of community we strive for: one underpinned by service, connection, and celebration. We are proud to share the profits from the day with our College charities LifeLink and St Vincent de Paul, whose work inspires us to live our mission in practical and compassionate ways. A heartfelt thank you must also go to our staff, students, and parent volunteers whose efforts made the day so memorable.

Tonight, we look forward to the Year 8/9 Social, which promises to be a fantastic evening of music, laser tag, mini golf, and more. These events are not only enjoyable, but they’re also vital in helping students build friendships, confidence, and a sense of belonging. We’re grateful to all involved in organising what is sure to be a memorable night.

Finally, as we approach the end of the term, our teachers are working diligently on Semester One reports which will offer a meaningful snapshot of each student’s learning journey so far. I encourage all students to stay focused and engaged in these final weeks as the learning continues right to the very end. Let’s endeavour to conclude the semester with the same enthusiasm and commitment that has defined our term.

God bless.
