Poetry in Action: The Poet's Quest at Lumen Christi College

On 4 June, Poetry in Action visited our Year 7 students, delivering an unforgettable live theatre experience titled The Poet’s Quest. This dynamic and engaging performance followed the story of a young hero named Blake, who discovers that the fate of the future—and his chance to win back his true love, Grace—rests on his ability to master poetry. As Blake journeys through time, students were taken on a thrilling adventure filled with humour, emotion, and powerful language.
The performance cleverly wove poetic techniques such as rhyme, rhythm, imagery, and theme into its fast-paced storyline, making these literary tools both accessible and exciting for young audiences. Through Blake’s quest, students not only witnessed the impact of poetry on storytelling but also saw how poetry can be a meaningful way to express emotions and connect with others.
Poetry in Action is known for its high-energy performances that bring poetry to life in fresh and unexpected ways. As one of Australia’s most widely travelled theatre companies, they are passionate about inspiring students by showcasing the beauty and power of words on stage. The Year 7 students were captivated from beginning to end, laughing, learning, and leaving the performance with a newfound enthusiasm for poetry.
The Poet’s Quest was more than just a show—it was an inspiring educational experience that highlighted how creative expression can shape the world. The performance left a lasting impression and ignited a genuine passion for poetry among the students.
