Careers update

This term students in Year 10 have participated in a number of activities crafted to broaden their knowledge of future career pathways. In the first week of term, students embarked to tertiary institutions of their choice, where they toured the campuses and heard from ambassadors regarding what courses and campus life was like. 

Last week featured the College’s career expo for all year levels with over twenty-five exhibitors showcasing their offerings and answering questions students may have had in relation to careers and courses. The Year 10 students in the afternoon were then treated to presentations from numerous experts where they gained insight into a particular profession and had the opportunity to query the presenters. 

The College once again offers our gratitude to these presenters who gave up their time to impart their knowledge and expertise to our students. Many thanks also goes to Mrs Shelley Halverson for her efforts in organising the above events. 

Reflections from students:

• Evie: Tafe was helpful. It showed all the options that TAFE offers and broke down how TAFE works.
• Alice: I think this day was extremely helpful for choosing senior subjects in term 3.
• Hanna: It was incredibly helpful and a fun experience, it broadens my understanding of different subjects and pathways to choose from.
• Georgie: The sessions were fun and entertaining. It helped me to choose a future pathway and subjects.
• Isabella: I loved the sessions. I found it very helpful in future pathways.
• Freya: The sessions were very good, and you got a good taste of each.
• Charley: I was able to gain an insight into different careers and allowed me to find interest in career options I had not yet considered.
