Winter Concert

Fiona Radford, Junior School Music Coordinator

On Thursday 13 June, we gathered in Dalton Hall for a splendid evening of music. The Winter Concert featured eight of Kilvington’s developing musical ensembles, providing an opportunity for over 120 students to perform for a large, supportive audience.

The Junior Strings Orchestra and Kadenza Concert Band started and finished the concert. Smaller groups, including the Flute, Percussion and Guitar Ensembles played throughout the evening, as did the Intermezzo Suzuki Strings. We heard choir performances from the Years 1 and 2 Choir, as well as the Klefs Junior School Choir.

Eight students from Years 5 to 8 presented solo items in the concert on a variety of instruments, including strings, voice, piano, saxophone and French horn. Congratulations to Sylvie Metz, Lili Metz, Thomas Ye, Lily-Rose Jackson, Harrison Zhou, Oliver Sey, Ethan Shi and Noah Ha for their fabulous performances!

Thank you to the Music staff who directed ensembles, provided piano accompaniment and assisted with organising the concert.

The audience appreciated the variety of instruments and styles and enjoyed the entertainment value of many of the items. Well done to everyone who performed in an ensemble and worked hard to prepare for the evening.

Concerto Concert

Melody Xu, Music Captain

On 19 June, our biennial Concerto Concert was held at the Hawthorn Arts Centre, a vibrant and prestigious venue. This year, five concertos were performed alongside performances by our VCE Music students, school choirs and the Kilvonian Alumni Choir.

We were fortunate to perform a wide array of repertoires presented by both past and present students in such a magnificent setting.

Congratulations to all the soloists and performers who dedicated countless hours to this concert, and a heartfelt thank you to all the music staff for sacrificing their time to organise such a significant and memorable event.
