Term 4 marks an exciting return to the water for the St Patrick’s College Rowing Program. Our rowers and coxswains have already completed a demanding first week of early mornings and challenging training sessions as they begin their journey toward the Head of the Lake on Sunday, 21 February 2027.
The SPC Rowing community gathered last Saturday to celebrate the official start of the season at our Opening Breakfast. Principal Steven O’Connor introduced the 2026/27 Rowing Captains and extended the College's sincere gratitude to departing Rowing Coordinator Rebecca Gribble for her significant contributions during her tenure.
We are proud to announce our student and staff leadership teams for the upcoming season:

Congratulations to our students who proudly represented St Patrick’s College at the 2026 ACC Cross Country Championships and Victorian All Schools Track & Field Championships during the school holidays.
At the ACC Cross Country Championships in September, Ollie Ryan claimed gold in the Under 15 3km, finishing first among 102 runners in an impressive 9:17min. Archer Spackman also delivered a strong performance, finishing fourth in the Under 14 3km, while Lenny Templar placed 10th in the Under 13 event. Ollie Burt, Albert McErlain, Hugh Vardy, Jed Burns, Nathaniel Sablik-Dixon, Toby Rewuk, Tobias Powell, Jack Costigan and Brody Atkinson also competed, demonstrating terrific effort and sportsmanship. Thank you to Shane Hayes for accompanying the team and myself to Melbourne for the championships.
Our students continued their success at the Victorian All Schools Track & Field Championships in Melbourne from 1–4 October. Archer Spackman won silver in the Under 15 2km steeplechase, before finishing seventh in the 1500m. Ollie Ryan secured bronze in the Under 16 3000m, while Sidney Porter reached the Under 14 100m semi-finals and Alfie Carter finished seventh in the Under 17 400m final.

In December 2027, a group of our most talented basketball players and coaches will be heading to the USA to explore and compete against some highly competitive high schools. The boys will play a number of games across a 17-day period in what promises to be an invaluable experience for everyone involved. The boys will also attend a New York Knicks NBA game, a New York Giants NFL game, a New Jersey NHL game as well as an NCAA Basketball game. For further information about the tour, please see the video presentation below or contact Mr Fryar or Mr Ebbels.

In the last week of the school holidays, 14 students and two staff travelled north for the annual Mildura Cricket Tour.
The boys showed great determination, teamwork and sportsmanship across their matches against Murray Mallee, with Luke Irvin producing an impressive innings of 62 runs on day two and Luke Weidemann taking four wickets.
The tour provided a valuable opportunity for the students to develop their skills, strengthen friendships and enjoy time together away from the classroom. A big thank you to coach Steve Biggin for giving up his time and holidays to take the students on the trip.
The best form of communication we have with parent/guardians is via the Parent Access Module (PAM). Students require permission to participate in all sport. Parent/guardians will receive the information through a PAM activity permission. Please ensure that you read the information prior to giving permission and that you also talk to students about the information.
The daily messages are one of the best ways we can distribute information to students about sports that are on offer and where sign-up meetings will be held. Students should check the daily messages regularly.
Once students have signed up for a sport, we will be adding them into a MS Teams group where they can communicate directly with their coach. Students must communicate with their coach if they are unavailable for a match so we can find a replacement to ensure we have a full team for each match. If students are unsure of how to sign up for a sport or want more information, they can visit sports staff in the gymnasium.
All SPC sport uniforms can be purchased at Dobsons, either at their Mair St store or online at dobsons.com.au. Students need to ensure that they are in the correct uniform to participate. The general sport uniform is the navy blue polo top, navy shorts and white socks. Certain sports will require very specific clothing e.g. Soccer will need to purchase SPC soccer shorts and socks and Basketball will need to purchase SPC Basketball shorts. Students should check with their coach as to what is required.
Please do not hesitate to contact me (jlappin@stpats.vic.edu.au) or our Sports Administrator Mr Simon Dwyer (sdwyer@stpats.vic.edu.au) with any questions.
