Interschool Sport - Term 3
Year 7 Boys EMR AFL
Seven boys took to the field at Elgar Park in the EMR round robin. Unfortunately, BHS were undermanned from the outset with only 17 players available and sadly missing our two physically biggest players. Heavy defeats were endured against a bigger and stronger Norwood and Rowville. The highlight of the day, however, was the epic low scoring slugfest victory over Wheelers Hill. At half-time scores were locked at 1-point all. Wheelers Hill kicked the first goal upon recommencing and looked more threatening. Against the run of the play, two goals late in the second half by Marcus and Jack were enough to get BHS over the line in a 2-point triumphant thriller.
Captain, Marcus was heroic in the midfield covering kilometres whilst amassing possession after possession. He was well supported by fellow onballers Mason, Rhys and Mack. Jack and Christiaan were stoic in defence working tirelessly and providing great rebound with their penetrating kicking. Despite being undermanned and the loss all BHS players tried their absolute best, behaved superbly and should be proud of their efforts.

Year 8 Boys AFL Whitehorse District
On Tuesday, 28th May 19 very enthusiastic Year 8 boys took to the field at Elgar Park in the Whitehorse District AFL round robin. BHS lived up to the pre-match expectations by convincingly defeating all opposition schools. Strong first half performances in all games allowed some coaching experimentation with all players given the opportunity to play at both ends of the ground. Consequently, goal kicking was spread amongst nearly all players. A total accumulated score over the 3 games of 318 points for and only 13 points against shows the huge discrepancy between the teams. BHS’s next and more competitive challenge awaits at the EMR later in the year.
Round 1: BHS 20 goals, 13 behinds, 133 points defeated EDSC 0 goals, 0 behinds, 0 points

Year 7 Basketball SSV Whitehorse Division
On Friday, 13th September 40 Year 7 Basketball students took to the courts at Kilsyth Sports Stadium to compete in the SSV Whitehorse Division round robin.
Each BHS team played 3-4 games (consisting of 2 x 15-minute halves) against KSC, EDSC and BHHS. All players displayed great skill, sportsmanship, teamwork and were great ambassadors for BHS Sport.
Both boys and girls A teams were undefeated and have successfully qualified for EMR. One of the highlights of the day was seeing how supportive each team was when watching and cheering on the other BHS teams when they had a break between games. Evidence once again that these days are pivotal in building a strong and positive school culture. I would like to extend a big thank you to the Year 10 Sport Coaching students who did an incredible job coaching and leading their teams. Their expertise, enthusiasm and mentoring played a key role in the success of the day.
