 "3 Time State Champion" Intermediate Boys Netball

For the third year in a row, this group of talented boys have taken out the School Sport Victoria State Netball Title. After cruising through the Whitehorse Division competition, the boys had to work really hard to qualify through the Eastern Regional Championships to qualify for the State Final.

It was evident from their first game on State Final day that they meant business and were already playing with minimal errors and such strength across the defensive end, mid court and attacking third. This continued right throughout the day, frustrating teams with their high level of skill and consistency.

It has been an absolute pleasure to see these boys develop into such a supportive, cohesive and disciplined team.

Final scores for the day were;

Pool Game 1 V’s Galen Catholic College Wangaratta – 18-7

Pool Game 2 V’s Gisborne Secondary College – 23-10

Pool Game 3 V’s Nagle – 40-8Semi

Final V’s Bendigo Sth East College – 27-12

Final V’s Galen Catholic College Wangaratta – 22-14

Yesterday we received an email from one of the officials that had umpired some of their games, not only to congratulate the boys on their achievement but to also emphasise the discipline and respect that this team of boys show on the court and what a pleasure they are to umpire. Something to be just so proud of.

Congratulations – Jacob, Charlie W, Callum, Thomas L, Kai, Thomas L, Charlie D, Reuben and Jorge.

Brilliant Results for BHS at Whitehorse Division Athletics

Congratulations to our 2024 Athletics Team on a fabulous day at the track with so many students participating across all of the events. The final overall scores for the day were;

  • 1st Blackburn HS – 2,098 Points
    2nd East Doncaster SC – 1,284 Poins
    3rd Koonung SC – 1,269 Points
    4th Box Hill HS – 1,079 Points
    5th Box Hill SSC – 137 Points

We also broke 7 of the 12 records broken on the day - Levi 16Yrs 1500m, Chloe 14Yrs High Jump, 400m and 800m – YES 3 RECORDS!, Thomas 15Yrs 800m and 1500m and Marlo, Chloe, Ava and Zita 4 X100m Relay 14Yrs. We also had 4 Age Champions – Alex, Amalia, Cheryl and Drew along with another 10 who finished in the top 3 overall for their age group and have qualified 7 relay teams through to Eastern Metropolitan Regional Finals.

A very proud moment for all of the staff that attended to see the constant sea of maroon across every event, as well as the enthusiasm and discipline that we instil in all of our students. When considering our School Values I could come up with so many examples from today but one that immediately comes to mind was seeing Partaj assisting a Koonung runner who had fallen over a hurdle when warming up.

Congratulations again to all students who attended and to those who have qualified for the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Finals which will be held at Knox on Wednesday 9 October.
