Thirty of our Year 10 students attended the Cairns Science and Engineering Challenge at Newman College late last month. The event, presented by Newcastle University in partnership with James Cook University, involved a variety of STEM team-building activities. These included building fish traps, wind turbines, aeroplanes, bridges, eco-houses as well as wiring up cities, cracking codes and job juggling.
Eight FNQ schools were involved, and Saints placed first overall. Some of our students interviewed by 7 News explained the challenge and talked about their prospective careers in the STEM arena.
Huge congratulations go to all the boys involved for their exemplary behaviour and for how well they represented Saints.
