Congratulations to Corey, Fischer and Slade, alongside Phil Laycock of OzFish, for their fantastic work supporting the Cairns OzFish chapter. Ozfish is a community group partnering with BCF and local government organisations to clean up and rehabilitate natural fishing habitats around Cairns.
Our boys have helped out at three events: a creek clean-up at Lilly Creek and two stream bank vegetation surveys at Lilly Creek and Saltwater Creek in Edge Hill. The boys have been proactive and helpful in this service opportunity and will be helping with stream fish and macroinvertebrate surveys on 24-25 May.
Franky Baker represented Queensland at the U16 National Hockey Championship in Adelaide during the holidays. Following a strong performance, he has been selected in the U16 national squad and will tour Europe later this year. Congratulations, Franky!
Congratulations to Oliver Lavis who represented at the U16 Gold Coast Suns Zone Championships during the holidays. Mr Chris Lee was also involved in the event, attending as a development squad coach.
Two of our students performed well at the recent swimming championships. Cooper, competing in three events, achieved personal bests in two, reflecting his commitment to refining his skills and mastering technique. Warne, taking on seven events, secured personal bests in three and earned a place in the 100m breaststroke final, where he placed 8th.
These accomplishments underscore the value of perseverance, discipline and goal-setting – qualities we nurture at Saints. Well done to both students for their outstanding efforts and development.
Congratulations to James McDonough, Tanner Williams, Jack Edwards, Kalani Williams, Jake Broomhead, and Samuel Humphries who represented Peninsula in the Queensland 16-19 Years State titles squad during Week 2. A special congratulations to Samuel Humphries who was selected for the QLD squad for his performances throughout the carnival.
