Term 4 - Week 4
A message from the teachers
This term just keeps getting busier and busier and the students have whole-heartedly dived into their work. They are also working with one eye towards the end of the term and especially for our Year 6’s, their graduation!
The 5’s and 6’s are both exploring angles at the moment and understanding the rules and relationships involved with this. Whether it's knowing the inverse relationship between acute and obtuse angles, that the angles in a triangle all add up to 180° or that a 4 sided shape’s angles all add up to 360°. It is frustrating how quickly they are understanding concepts now because it means their teachers can’t trick them anymore!
In literacy it has been amazing to watch the children connect and explore the text we are reading in class. Australia’s history with bushfires is important and the recognition and empathy that the students are showing, especially to victims of our past national tragedies and trying to put themselves in their shoes has been impressive. We are now moving into the creative writing element of this unit, where they will be creating a story for a character going through this same experience and disaster.
The graduation fund raising by the Year 6’s has proved to be a huge success with the icy pole sales flying and the kids’ energy being so positive. All of the money raised goes to their Big Day Out event, Graduation decorations and end of term celebrations, so they should be very proud of their efforts
