Term 4 Week 4 - 31st October 2025
I cannot believe we have just finished week 4. The term just flies by - especially term 4. The school calendar is extremely busy this term.
Term 4 is a lovely term full of consolidating content taught during the year and fun whole school and class activities. We have already enjoyed Grandparents and special friends day and had a wonderful turn out. Thank you to all that supported this afternoon. The preps were very excited to have you all visit!
The colour run was a big success and much fun was had. A memory they will hopefully remember for a long time to come!
Later in December we will have a class Kris Kringle which is always fun (if your family doesn't celebrate Christmas please get in touch with me ASAP)
Enjoy the cup long weekend and we will see you back at school next

Literacy
We are continuing to explore narrative writing this term, with a focus on understanding story structure and using sequencing language. This week, we have been reading and retelling Jack and the Beanstalk. Students have been learning to use words such as first, next, then, and last/finally to help organise their ideas and show the order of events in their stories. It’s been wonderful to see students challenging themselves to include more detail in their writing, use descriptive language, and build confidence in sharing their stories with others. Their enthusiasm and growing independence as writers have been fantastic to watch.

Maths:
In Mathematics, students did a fantastic job collecting and representing data over the past few weeks. They enjoyed creating simple tables/graphs and interpreting information in different ways. More recently, we have been consolidating our understanding of positional language — using words such as next to, between, above, and below to describe the location of objects. Students have been having fun applying this language through hands-on activities, games, and problem-solving tasks.
Inquiry/Science
In Science and Inquiry, our focus has been on life cycles and understanding how living things grow and change over time. As part of our hands-on learning, students have planted sunflower seeds and are taking great responsibility in watering them daily. They have been observing and recording the changes they notice, such as the first shoots emerging and leaves beginning to form. It’s been wonderful to see their excitement and curiosity as they watch their plants grow and develop.
We are also eagerly looking forward to our upcoming Butterfly Incursion, which will give students the opportunity to explore the fascinating life cycle of a butterfly up close. They’ll learn about the different stages — from egg to caterpillar, chrysalis, and butterfly — through engaging activities and real-life observation. Please remember to provide permission and make payment for this experience if you haven’t already done so, so your child doesn’t miss out on this exciting learning opportunity. 🦋🐸
