Visual Arts
In Visual Arts, students have been busy adding the finishing touches to their clay creations by painting their air-dry clay sculptures. After learning important clay-building skillsβsuch as attaching pieces, scoring, using slip, and smoothing joinsβstudents are now bringing their creations to life with colour, texture, and creativity.
This term, students have also begun exploring threads and textiles, learning a range of skills such as weaving with paper or materials and sewing with a needle and thread. These hands-on activities help develop fine motor skills, patience, and design thinking.
β’ Foundation students painted their fish sculptures using bright colours to highlight the textures, scales, and other features.Β
β’ Year 1/2 students decorated their treasure pots and lids with thoughtful designs and patterns, experimenting with colour blending and brushwork to enhance their details. They also practised their weaving techniques by making colourful paper plate weaving baskets.
β’ Year 3/4 students added bold colours and expressive patterns to their pinch pot monsters, giving each creature a unique personality. They also began weaving, creating 3D woven paper baskets or pencil holders to explore pattern and texture.
β’ Year 5/6 students painted their clay hamburgers with realistic tones and texturesβbringing each layer, from the bun to the lettuce, to life in delicious detail! They then moved on to working with thread, learning running stitch and simple embroidery to create expressive lines and shapes that enhance their stitched self-portraits.

Culture Studies
In Culture Studies, students have been celebrating Diwali β the Festival of Lights, a special celebration that symbolises the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. Students learned about how families in India and around the world celebrate Diwali with colourful decorations, lights, and rangoli patterns. To mark the occasion, they created their own paper plate rocking Diwali lamps (diyas), decorating them with bright colours, patterns, and sparkle to represent light and happiness. Each lamp reflected the studentsβ creativity and joyful spirit as they learned about this beautiful cultural tradition.

In week 3, all students continued to develop their skills and understanding of cricket with a focus on batting and fielding. This involved students hitting off a small batting tee and using the right technique with their feet and the trajectory of the bat to hit the ball hard and straight to their partner. The partner's goal was to field the ball without it hitting the rock wall behind them. Students then moved to hitting a moving ball delivered by their partner, initially with a slow underarm bowl and then onto a correct bowling technique.
In week 4, due to the weather, students in years Prep to 4 did a tabloid sport rotation with a focus on catching and throwing, with some other activities including kicking and bouncing a basketball.
The year 5/6 students had a session on softball, which is another striking and fielding game. The focus was on pitching the ball and batters hitting a pitched ball.
Students across the school thoroughly enjoyed batting and trying to hit a moving ball.

The girls won two of the first 3 games comfortably and had a very close win in the 3rd game to get them into the grand final. They had a very good final and won this comfortably. As a result they now progress through to the regional final on Tuesday 12th Nov. Well done to these girls.
