Wonderful 1

The 0ne-der Stars 1s

Term 4 Week 4 2025 -  Friday 31st October

What have we been up to?

What a wonderful couple of weeks we’ve had in Year 1!

In Writing, we have finished reading Fantastic Mr Fox by Roald Dahl. The students absolutely loved following the adventures of Mr Fox and his clever plans! To celebrate, we created our very own fox tunnels in the classroom and have started writing our own imaginative narratives. The students have been using descriptive language and creative ideas to bring their stories to life.

In Mathematics, we have been learning about Time. Students have explored the duration of time and have started learning how to tell the time on analogue clocks. We have been practising reading o’clock and half past times, using both real and classroom clocks to help us understand how time passes throughout the day.

A highlight of the fortnight was our excursion to the Cranbourne Botanical Gardens for the Shared Country program. Students had an amazing opportunity to learn about Indigenous cultures. They saw traditional tools and learned how they were made and used, touched different animal skins, explored bush tucker plants, and even tried painting with ochre. It was a fantastic hands-on learning experience, and everyone had such a great time!

We also had so much fun participating in the Colour Run! It was wonderful to see all the bright colours, smiling faces, and energetic running around the track. The students loved celebrating together and getting a little messy for a great cause!
