Dear School Community,

The recent Year 7/8 Experiential Learning day at Broughtons was a day filled with adventure, learning, and unforgettable memories. Students had the opportunity to explore the great outdoors and engage in a variety of hands-on activities that fostered teamwork, creativity, and a deeper connection with nature.

Our students showcased their creative talents as they designed and constructed battery-powered boats. Under the guidance of our dedicated teachers, they learned about engineering, problem-solving, and the importance of attention to detail. It was amazing to witness their boats take shape and come to life, powered by their ingenuity.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the chance to test these boats on Broughtons' serene lake. The excitement and anticipation were palpable as the boats were gently placed in the water. Students cheered each other on as they watched their creations glide across the lake. This hands-on experience was not only educational but also a lot of fun.

Our young chefs took charge of the BBQ and cooked up a storm. From flipping burgers to grilling snags, students worked together to prepare a delicious feast. The experience of preparing a meal outdoors not only honed their culinary skills but also emphasised the importance of teamwork and responsibility.

The day also offered students a chance to connect with nature as they tried their hands at fishing. Patience and determination were the keys to success, and it was heartwarming to see students supporting each other as they cast their lines into the water.

These Experiential Learning days are more than just a break from the classroom. They are days of growth and connection and an incredible opportunity for our students to develop their personal and social skills in ways they would otherwise not be able to do in a classroom.

Students left Broughtons with not only a sense of achievement but also a deeper appreciation for the environment and the value of collaboration.

In the spirit of experiential learning, let's cherish the lessons we've learned and the memories we've made. The Year 7/8 Experiential Learning day at Broughtons was a success, and we look forward to more such enriching experiences in the future.
