Investigative Play

For Humanities, we have been learning about different celebrations from around the world. So far we have learnt about Ramadan, Australia Day, National Sorry Day, Valentine’s Day and this week we learnt about Halloween. We have also had fun doing some craft during these lessons, when were talking about Australia Day we made a pair of thongs and for Halloween we made a pasta skeleton.

Years 2, 3 & 4 Spooky Stories

"The Halloween House

It was dark and quiet in the terrifying house. The house was on the edge of a wild forest. There were wild dogs there too! It was winter so it was freezing cold and gloomy inside. There was no fire so it was damp and lonely living there. It was spooky at night. The house was hidden under the leafy trees. The half human half dog that lived there was peaceful and calm until it was Halloween night! Then all sorts of creatures came out and made the house even more creepy."

"Once upon a time there was a dangerous house on the hill. Chloe, Eliza and Poppy went up the hill to look at the house. It was spooky. Chloe said "maybe we shouldn't go inside, maybe a witch lives there." But Poppy and Eliza said there won't be a witch. So they went closer and closer. Chloe stayed out the front because she didn't want to get nightmares that night. Poppy and Eliza went into the house, they heard a door creaking. They got a little scared but that didn't worry them. They went into a room and found toes and feet. Eliza and Poppy screamed. Then they ran out of the house where Chloe asked what was going on. Poppy said "run as fast as you can Chloe." So Chloe ran and ran and caught up with Poppy and Eliza. Then a witch came and took Chloe who screamed "Help Poppy and Eliza!"

The next day Poppy and Eliza went back to the haunted house, they didn't see Chloe, they thought she slept in because she might have had nightmares. So they went in the house and saw Chloe lying on the bed with no toes or feet. Poppy and Eliza saw the witch eating Chloe's toes. They were so scared so they went outside. It was misty and dark so they found a torch for safety so they could see their way home. While they were walking home they saw some of Chloe's toes on the ground. They picked them up and put them into their pockets until they saw Chloe. Then the girls went back and saved Chloe."

"The Scary House

Once upon a time there lived a creepy, cold and haunted house. The house had been there for 156 years. No one would dare enter that scary house. Whenever someone went near the house, it would start to get really foggy, it was very mysterious. One night Jimmy and Billy were playing in the forest where the haunted house was. Billy had brown hair and blue eyes and Jimmy had blonde hair and green eyes. They entered the haunted house and never came BACK!"

"Spooky Scary Skeletons

Spooky scary skeletons will welcome you to this eerie house. Creepy old witches live in this mysterious abode. They will invite you in to turn you into a dark toad. The ghosts will say hello with a BOO as haunting is what they do. In the cold cemetery a lonely zombie will come out to play in the foggy night. A gloomy werewolf will stay away. Terrifying all comes together in the misty garden where a dangerous plant will be frightening to all."

Year 5/6 Science

In Year 5/6 Science students have been working with circuits and switches. They have learnt how to create a complete circuit with connecting wires and batteries (power source) to make the globe glow and a fan to spin. As a project, they have been asked to create a battery powered boat that uses a fan/propeller to move in water and a switch to turn on and off.
