Wellbeing Snapshot – Mental Health Month
In Term 4, Week 1, our Wellbeing Captains, Rose and Ava, led a special assembly to recognise Mental Health Month and World Mental Health Day, which takes place on 10 October. The theme for this year, Together We Thrive, reminds us that when we care for ourselves, support others and stay connected, we can all feel supported and do our best.
Students were reminded that we all experience a range of feelings, and that it is important to recognise our emotions and talk to someone we trust when we need help. Rose and Ava encouraged everyone to check in with others by asking, “Are you OK?”, listening when someone needs to talk, inviting others to join in play and showing kindness and care. They also shared simple ways we can look after our own mental health, such as spending time with loved ones, being active, enjoying activities we love and taking quiet time when needed.
Remember, looking after our mental health is something we can do every day! By talking, listening, including others and supporting one another, we can continue to build a school community where everyone feels safe, respected, included and valued.
Together, we can help everyone at Blackburn Primary School thrive!
Thanks,
Fiona Arthur (School Wellbeing Co-ordinator)
