2/3A

Mrs Lofts, Miss Mchoul and Miss Haddrick

It has been a busy and exciting few weeks in Grade 2/3, with lots of fantastic learning happening across all areas of the classroom!

✏️ Literacy

In Writing, students have been diving into the wonderful world of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We have been analysing the characters in the story and discussing what makes each character unique. Students have also been exploring persuasive writing as they prepare to write a letter to Mr Willy Wonka explaining why they deserve to receive a Golden Ticket! Along the way, we have been learning how to use persuasive language, strong arguments, and convincing vocabulary to make our writing powerful and engaging.

📏 Numeracy

In Numeracy, students have been exploring different areas of measurement. We have investigated mass using balance scales, capacity using a variety of containers, and both formal and informal methods of measuring. Students have enjoyed lots of hands-on learning experiences and challenges. We have now moved into learning about time, with a focus on reading analogue clocks and understanding how we use time in our everyday lives.

💧 Integrated Studies

In Integrated Studies, students have begun an exciting unit on Sustainability and H₂O. Working collaboratively with Grade 4 students in small groups, students are learning about water — where it comes from, how we use it, and why it is important to protect and sustain it for the future. Students will work towards creating a project that showcases an aspect of water use or sustainability, and we are looking forward to seeing their creativity and teamwork shine!
