Literacy Learning

Over the past fortnight, students in 1/2A have been working hard on all aspects of their literacy learning. We have been learning about the purpose of texts we read, watch and listen to. We learnt that texts can have three purposes:

To explain

To inform

To entertain

We spent some time looking through different texts and deciding for ourselves which job we thought the text we had chosen was doing. Some of us were surprised to learn that sometimes, a text has more than one purpose! I know! 🤯

Integrated Studies - Robot Buddies

Our Integrated Studies unit has begun - thank you so much to the families who have started donating items for our robot constructing. It is very much appreciated!

We have been learning about all the different ways we can be creative. This fortnight, we took an everyday item and thought of new ways we could use it in a non-standard way. We chose a water bottle and an egg carton. Some of the ideas we came up with have been fantastic, and we are already using our egg carton to store some craft items which broke out of their original storage bag.

Here we are workshopping and sharing our ideas with a small group of other investigators!

Respectful Relationships

Students have also been learning about what it means to have a growth mindset! Sometimes, when things are tricky, our brain wants to give up. But that can make our brain lazy! We want to exercise our brains and build up its muscles, so we have been doing some tasks that, in the beginning, were quite challenging but got easier the more we practiced. 

Eva, Freya and Ivy presented their learning at our fortnightly assembly and spoke about how doing hard things makes our brain stronger! 💪🏻
