There have been outstanding results across the Girls Football program. The Senior Girls narrowly missed out on top honours, finishing in second place. The Intermediate team delivered an impressive performance, securing a decisive victory over Frankston High to claim the overall win for their division. Meanwhile, the Junior Girls showed exceptional skill and determination, overcoming Patterson River Secondary College in a closely contested final after a series of competitive matches throughout the day. Congratulations to all three teams, as well as their coaches, for their outstanding effort and achievements.

 

The Intermediate Softball team competed at the State Finals on 21 May, delivering a strong and determined performance throughout the day. The team secured two wins from three matches but narrowly missed qualification for the State Final on percentage. While the end result was disappointing, the team can be extremely proud of their efforts and the level of commitment shown across all games. Their performance reflected great resilience, teamwork, and sportsmanship in a highly competitive environment.

 

NPD and SMR Cross Country

A total of 75 students represented the school at the NPD Cross Country event held at Ballam Park on 28 May. Despite cold and drizzly conditions, all participants demonstrated outstanding determination and sportsmanship, and the school was extremely proud of their efforts. The team achieved excellent overall results, with 23 students finishing inside the top 15 and progressing to the next round of competition.

Standout performances at the NPD level included Taj Sanders (3rd place), Sienna Fleisner (3rd place), Olivia Lindley (3rd place), Mikalya Coutts (2nd place), and Asha Morrow, who claimed 1st place.

 

A further 23 students competed at the SMR Cross Country event held at Hastings Foreshore on 9 June. In a highly competitive field, EMC students represented the school with pride and gave strong individual performances across all races.

 

Congratulations to Mikalya Coutts, Taj Sanders and Sienna Fleisner, who all finished inside the top 12 in their respective races, earning qualification for the State Finals in Term 3. And a special congratulations to Asha Morrow for finishing 1st at SMR Cross Country.

It was fantastic to see a large number of EMC Year 7 students representing the College across a range of sports on Monday 15 June. The Year 7 Boys Football team competed at Lloyd Park and finished the day in second place, narrowly missing out on the overall victory after a strong series of performances. The Year 7 Girls Netball team travelled to Jubilee Park with high expectations and competed in a number of closely contested matches, including two games decided by a single point. The team finished the day with a well-earned victory overall, and we look forward to seeing their continued success in the next round of competition. The Year 7 Soccer teams played their fixtures at Aspendale Gardens Soccer Club, delivering excellent team performances throughout the day. Both teams finished in third place overall. 

 

We would like to congratulate all students involved for representing the College with pride, respect, and strong sportsmanship, and extend our thanks to the coaches for their support and guidance on the day.

It was another strong showing for EMC students across a range of sports, with teams competing with great effort, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The Boys Badminton team finished the day in third place, with the Girls Badminton team also securing a third-place finish after a series of competitive matches. Our soccer teams headed out to Aspendale Gardens with the Boys Soccer team delivering an impressive performance to finish in second place overall, while the Girls Soccer team excelled throughout the day to claim first place. In football, the Boys Football team put together a strong campaign to finish in second place, and had some great performances during the competition. The Girls Netball team competed strongly in a series of tightly contested matches, ultimately finishing the day in third place. 

 

Overall, it was a highly successful day for EMC sport, with all teams representing the College with pride, determination, and excellent sportsmanship.

 

EMC Athletics Day

EMC hosted its annual Whole School Athletics Day at the Casey Fields Athletics Track on 18 June. The event saw strong participation across all year levels, with Year 12 students arriving in costumes that added a fun and lively atmosphere to the day. It was fantastic to see so many students representing the College with enthusiasm and giving their best effort across a range of track and field events.

A number of outstanding performances were recorded throughout the day, with several students setting new school records. 

Congratulations to:

  • Jack Rainer- U13 1500m record (5:21.00)
  • Mason Stephenson- U15 discus record (34.86m)
  • Murphy Rault- U13 triple jump (9.58m). 
  •  Grace Jung- U15100m (13.84) and 200m (29.14). 

 

The Sport Department extends its thanks to all staff and students who contributed to the success of the day, and congratulates all EMC students for their energy, effort, and sportsmanship throughout the event.

 

Looking Forward!

Looking ahead on the sporting calendar, there are several exciting opportunities for students to represent EMC at both Senior and Year 8 Sport in the final week of Term 2.

In Term 3, students will compete in a wide range of competitions including:

  • SMR Intermediate Girls Soccer
  • SMR Intermediate Girls Football
  • SMR Year 7 Boys and Girls Netball.

 

With such a busy and competitive schedule ahead, there is plenty for students to look forward to. We are excited to see our teams continue to develop, compete with pride, and represent the College across all levels of sport.
