Green Team

The Green Team is proud to be participating in the National School Tree Day on Friday 24th July!

National Schools Tree Day is run on the 24th every year by Planet Ark with the goal of inspiring environmental engagement in youth.

Thanks to the donation of 200 Indigenous grasses, shrubs, and tress, Green Team, alongside middle school Aspirant Leaders and Murdoch Program will be spending session two planting flora around the school. This will not only allow us to increase EMC’s biodiversity but also create habitats for local critters.

However, we need help! To help protect the plants until they are established we are collecting:

  • Plastic milk bottles
  • Cardboard milk cartons
  • Bamboo stakes

Such items will be used to make recycled tree guards, giving the plants the best chance of survival. Any donations would be greatly appreciated, but please ensure that the bottles and cartons are washed and dried thoroughly. Any donations can be dropped off at the front office for Ms. Volk during week one of next term (term 3).

Update on our Sustainable Garden

In preparation for Winter/Spring, Green Team has teamed up with VCE VM classes to clear the garden beds, allowing for new plants to be planted in the near future. The current goal we’re working towards, is planting a variety of root vegetables, carrots, beetroot, broccoli, potatoes, etc. Most of which will be used by the cooking rooms.

Thank you!
