Congratulations to new SBAT Students!

Semester one has been a busy time for SBAT sign-ups with the Head Start program. There are now 19 SBAT students signed-up into their different trades at EMC in Years 10, 11, and 12. Students are signed-up into their Certificate III courses at TAFE in a variety of industries, including: Plumbing; Flooring Technology; Carpentry; Commercial Cookery; Supply Chain Operations; Electrotechnology Electrician; Landscape Construction; Parks and Gardens; and Hairdressing. Congratulations to the students who have recently signed-up and become SBAT students as listed below.

 

Congratulations to Ryan B (Year 11) who signed up and commenced his Head Start school-based apprenticeships (SBAT) with employer Swan Plumbing on 04/03/2026 and is now completing his Certificate III in Supply Chain Operations.

 

Congratulations to William M (Year 11) who signed up and commenced his Head Start school-based apprenticeships (SBAT) with employer BPM Ultimate Carpentry on 13/03/2026 and is now completing his Certificate III in Carpentry.

Congratulations to Tiana M (Year 11) who signed up and commenced her Head Start school-based apprenticeships (SBAT) with employer Unishape Hair Design on 04/03/2026 and is now completing her Certificate III in Hairdressing.

Congratulations to Cody R (Year 10) who signed up and commenced his Head Start school-based apprenticeships (SBAT) with employer Bayplex Plumbing PTY LTD on 04/06/2026 and is now completing his Certificate III in Plumbing.

Congratulations to Chekala B (Year 12) who signed up and commenced her Head Start school-based apprenticeships (SBAT) with employer Otter Builders on 12/06/2026 and is now completing her Certificate III in Carpentry.

The Head Start program will support Ryan, William, Tiana, Chekala and Cody as they embark on their SBAT journeys commencing their qualification certificates, attending work with their employers, and also working towards completing their studies at school. Faith Kisby, Head Start Coordinator, and the Head Start team, wish Ryan, William, Tiana, Chekala and Cody all the best as they pursues their chosen career pathways.

 

Also, on Friday 17th July, 2026 Head Start are running a Hairdressing Industry Immersion event, hosted at Elisabeth Murdoch College in the salon. This incursion will see Head Start partner with experienced hairdressers who know what it’s really like to work in top Hairdressing salons in Australia and overseas. There will be a Q&A section, an on-scalp bleaching demonstration, and a hands-on styling workshop, where participants will learn some basic styling and braiding techniques. The event will run from 8:30am – 1:00pm at no cost to participants.
