College Production - The Wizard of Oz

Rehearsals have officially started this Term, and we are so excited with some of the staging we are seeing! The cast have been so supportive and enthusiastic so far, we cannot wait to see how they progress through the next few months.

Along with rehearsals, we are so excited to announce a formal production partnership with our local primary schools! Most schools will extend an invitation for local primary schools to watch their college production... not at Pakenham Secondary College! We are so thrilled to announce that students from Pakenham Consolidated School, Pakenham Hills and Pakenham Springs Primary Schools will be joining us on stage for The Wizard of Oz! As Dorothy lands “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” she will be met with some of the most adorable “Munchkins” Pakenham has to offer! We will be working closely with our partnership schools, and look forward to sharing the stage with them in August.

And now, an update from our Performing Arts Captains:

Over the last fortnight all students and teachers involved in our 2024 College Musical ‘The Wizard of Oz’ have begun the rehearsal process to create a wonderful production. We rehearsed within school grounds and continued to practice in comfort of our homes to perfect scenes and phenomenal choreography. A highlight has to be the moment we got our scripts, which was extremely exciting. We are all anticipating to show the outcome of our efforts on stage and we can’t thank our incredible teachers that are involved enough for all their effort and dedication to support and guide our fellow cast members through this process.

With the show on the way we have a few things to look forward to. Including meeting the crew, holiday rehearsals and our final show. This year, our crew has even more to work with based off our spectacular stage designs. Along with this we’re extremely excited to see what fun designs our makeup and costume crew are going to come up with. If you are interested in becoming a crew member and helping out behind the scenes – keep an eye out on compass for official sign ups! Our holiday rehearsals are coming up quickly, where we are looking forward to spending three fun, hardworking days together over the term 2 break in order to stitch together the whole show.

We have a spectacular show in the making, with many of your teachers and fellow students working hard for a common goal. We can’t wait to showcase our hard work to you all this August.

Kaneisha Lynn and Jaxon Learmonth
