What has been happening in Wellbeing during Term 1...

Year 7

31st January - Year 7 Welcome Program. The Wellbeing team met with every home group and played some games with students.

We have also made a start on our Year 7 Transition check-ins to make sure we are supporting our youngest members of the community as they navigate the huge leap from primary school to secondary school. We aim to have met with all Year 7’s by the end of Semester 1.

We have also had Kingston Youth Services attend the school every Wednesday lunchtime during term 1 to play Uno with our Year 7s to encourage them to get to know each other better in a fun and relaxed environment.

Year 8

26th February - Social Media and Privacy lesson plan provided by Wellbeing for Pastoral Care.

4th March - GEM (Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness) and Kindness lesson plan provided by Wellbeing for Pastoral Care - To become more aware of emotions, thoughts and feelings as a Home Gro.

Year 9

Bio-Dash - equips individuals, groups, schools and organisations with strategies to reduce anxiety, and enhance focus and wellbeing.

Year 10

18th March - batyr Australia provided a presentation on ‘Look Out For Your Mates’ to empower our Year 10’s to know the signs to look out for if we feel our mates might not be at their best and could do with some support.

Year 11

4th March - Pat Cronin Foundation - Coward’s Punch presentation - provides education, strategies and resources to empower young people so that together we can end the coward punch.

Year 12

18th March - TaskForce - Alcohol and Other Drugs - Harm Minimisation presentation to discuss the dangers associated with substance abuse.

International Women's Day

8th March - #InspireInclusion - when we inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion, we forge a better world.

Pride Week

The Wellbeing team organised for the students to do some chalk drawing on the driveway with the students on Tuesday lunchtime, as well as having Kingston Youth Services play some lunchtime games on Wednesday. The students enjoyed giant jenga, bean bag toss and ring toss, as well as having some hand/arm painting in the Pride colours.

Harmony Day

21st March - As well as offering free apples, fruit cups and messy monkey snacks, the Wellbeing team organised for the students to play some lunchtime games with Kingston Youth Services.

Free counselling and psych services

Kingston City Council Youth Services currently doesn’t have a wait time for their free counselling and psych services. This service is free for young people aged 12+.
