From the Principal

Dear School Community

As we come to the end of Term 1 and reflect, it has been an incredibly busy and successful time for our school community. We have witnessed many fantastic events and milestones that have made Term 1 memorable for all of us.

We started the term with a warm welcome to our new Year 7 students, who were greeted with a traditional Welcome to Country ceremony alongside our Year 12s on their first day. It was a special moment that celebrated the beginning and the end of their journey at our school.

Throughout the term, our students have been actively engaged in various activities and events, including visits from our local primary school students for science sessions, The Big Day Out for our Year 12 students, which was a great success, the highly anticipated Year 12 formal, where all students enjoyed a night of celebration and camaraderie and so much more.

In addition, preparations for our production of Mamma Mia are in full swing, with rehearsals and staging well underway. We are excited to showcase the talents of our students in this much-anticipated performance.

Our busy term included Parent, Student, Teacher Conferences, the Year 11 Camp, interschool sports competitions, school photos, Cultural Diversity Week, the House Swimming Carnival, Pride Week celebrations, and the Year 7 and 9 NAPLAN assessments.

I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you and congratulations to all our teachers and staff for their dedication, hard work, and commitment to providing our students with a safe and nurturing learning environment. Your efforts have truly made a difference in the lives of our students.

As communicated last week, it seems more students have been wearing black sports shoes or popular branded shoes, instead of the required black leather shoes. While we understand the appeal of these shoes, it is important that we follow the uniform policy for several reasons. First and foremost, the uniform policy fosters a sense of unity and pride within our school community. By adhering to the policy, students contribute to the overall positive atmosphere and identity of our school. Secondly, there are important health and safety considerations associated with the choice of footwear, especially in subjects like science and technology subjects. Black leather shoes provide better protection and support compared to sports shoes, reducing the risk of injury in these practical subjects. Additionally, leather shoes are more resistant to spills and accidents, helping to maintain a safe learning environment for all students. I kindly request parents support the college in ensuring that every student wears the appropriate black leather shoes as outlined in the school uniform policy. If you have any concerns or questions regarding the uniform policy or footwear requirements, please do not hesitate to contact the school office for clarification.

Finally, I would like to welcome our new School Council members, congratulate our newly appointed School Council President Janine, and express my gratitude to all those who have contributed to making Term 1 a success. Your support and involvement are invaluable to our school community.

As we head into the break, I encourage everyone to take some time to rest, relax, and rejuvenate. May you all have a safe and enjoyable break, and I look forward to seeing you refreshed and ready for Term 2. To those who celebrate Easter, I hope it is joyful. May this time be filled with love, happiness, and precious moments with family and friends.

Warm regards
