VTAC

This week, our Year 12 students participated in an important VTAC information session to prepare for their transition to tertiary study.  During the session, students learnt how to navigate the VTAC system, create and activate their VTAC accounts, and explore the wide range of university and tertiary courses available.  They also began researching courses and considering the options they may include on their preference lists, taking into account entry requirements, prerequisites, and future career pathways.  This session provided students with a strong foundation for making informed decisions about their post-school plans.  Students intending on submitting a VTAC application will meet with one of our staff members and be supported to complete their VTAC and any interstate applications to ensure a smooth transition into the next stage of their educational journey.

Sagamihara - Yaei Japanese Exchange Student visit

It was a pleasure to host students and staff from our Japanese sister school last week, sharing stories, culture and experience through the lens of students from the other side of the world. We hope they enjoyed their visit as much as we enjoyed having them here.

Community Innovators Workshop at Federation University

Last week a group of year 9 and 10 students travelled to Federation University in Churchill to participate in a Community Innovators Workshop run by Monash University.

Working alongside students from Warragul Secondary College, we focused on identifying and solving issues affecting the Gippsland area.

It was a really fun experience that encouraged leadership, teamwork and stepping outside of our comfort zone. Throughout the day, we explored and identified not only our personal strengths but also the skills required to work collaboratively to solve challenges within the broader community.

Using Lego we built prototypes; our teams developed and pitched innovative ideas for repurposing the Hazelwood Coal Mine. Overall, we enjoyed collaborating with other students from another school, we had a great time.

Year 11 Business Management Excursion to Peter Dullard Ford

On Wednesday the 29th July the Year 11 Business Management class undertook an excursion to Peter Dullard Ford in Bairnsdale. This was an invaluable opportunity for students to observe the practical application of the theory that they have been learning in class. Benn Dullard covered a range of topics when he spoke to the students, answered some very thoughtful questions and showed the students through the various divisions at the dealership from the salesroom to the workshop. The topics he covered were business ownership structures, legal compliance, product mix and market segmentation,  product development, financial management and supply chain impact. It was a terrific experience for the students (apart from the rain on the way home) and we thank Mrs Smith for organising the excursion, Claire Stone for accompanying us and Benn Dullard for his time and knowledge.
