Head of Year 9 & 10 News
Mr Bill Moloney
It’s hard to believe we’re already approaching the middle of the Term. With that comes handing out assessment tasks, deadlines and all the usual Term 3 energy. But among the busy days, we also have a lot to look forward to from camps to rewards trips to student-led initiatives, there’s plenty happening to keep us inspired and moving forward during this very busy Term.
Attendance Matters
We understand it’s been a tricky start to the term for many students, with illnesses making the rounds. A big thank you to all the parents and guardians who continue to communicate so well around absences it really helps us support your children better. Let’s keep working together to maintain strong attendance as we move into the assessment-heavy weeks.
Level 2 Rewards – Congratulations and Cautions!
Well done to all students who have maintained or newly achieved Level 2 – a fantastic reflection of your consistent effort and behaviour. Our rewards system is a valued part of our school culture, and it’s important to remember that to stay on Level 2, students must receive all ‘Very Good’ or ‘Excellent’ ratings in both effort and behaviour. Some students are on lifelines or even their final lifeline, so I look forward to working closely with them during Feedback Week to help them stay on track.
Feedback Week – A Valuable Check-In
In Week 5, we will be holding Feedback Week, a key opportunity for students to reflect on how they are tracking with effort and behaviour. It’s especially important for students on lifelines or final lifelines, as participation in Feedback Week is essential to remain eligible for rewards. We strongly encourage all students to engage in this valuable process it’s a chance to reset, refocus and move forward.
Rewards Trip – Let’s Go Shopping!
On Friday, 15 August, Level 2 students will head to Indooroopilly Shopping Centre for a well earned day of fun and relaxation. This extended rewards trip celebrates the consistent excellence shown by our students in behaviour and effort. Students will return to Toogoolawah around 7:45pm, and we can’t wait to share in this special day of recognition.
Year 9 Camp – Almost Here!
Our much anticipated Year 9 Camp is fast approaching, and after months of planning, it’s shaping up to be an incredible experience. The camp will challenge students mentally, emotionally and at times physically all as part of The Rite Journey program. The theme (revealed during camp!) might ring a bell for fans of a certain successful State of Origin side from a few years ago, I will provide a hint, they were not wearing blue. Fingers crossed the team spirit carries through!
Rite Journey Walk – Raising Awareness for a Cause
Mark your calendars for Friday, 12 September (Week 9) – our Year 9 Rite Journey students will be walking from Esk to Toogoolawah to raise awareness for Childhood Cancer. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and our theme is Gold. Students will wear gold to show support for young people affected by cancer and to help raise awareness of this important cause. It’s a powerful opportunity for our students to demonstrate empathy, leadership and service. More information to come.
So Much Going On…
With all this happening, you might be wondering how we’re keeping our heads above water. The secret? A great team, wonderful students and a great school. We appreciate your continued support and can’t wait to see what the rest of Term 3 brings!
