Last week, our Year 11 and Year 12 English and Drama students had the exciting opportunity to attend Shake & Stir’s school production of Shakespeare's Macbeth at Rosewood State High School. This excursion immersed our students in a captivating abridged rendition of the classic tragedy, allowing them to experience the timeless themes of ambition, power and guilt brought to life on stage.
Year 11 and Year 12 English students study Macbeth for their final exam, and Drama students use the stage production as a springboard to generate ideas for their own production work.
The performance was both engaging and thought-provoking, showcasing the incredible versatility and talent of the cast. Students were enthralled by the dynamic interpretation of the characters, and many were inspired by the innovative staging and the creative use of lighting, projection and sound. This experience not only enriched their understanding of the text but also sparked valuable discussions about the relevance of Shakespeare’s work in today’s classroom.
We would like to extend our gratitude to Rosewood State High School and Shake & Stir for providing such an enriching educational experience. This excursion was a fantastic opportunity for our students to appreciate the arts and will surely enhance their studies in English and Drama.
We look forward to more cultural experiences that inspire and engage our students!
