Harding Miller 2026 Scholarship Applications Open

Harding Miller Scholarship recipient Esta Kakakios spoke with Year 8 girls last week about the support, resources and opportunities this scholarship can provide. Esta successfully applied for the scholarship in 2023 and encouraged the young women she spoke with to do the same. Esta said, “The support I have received is amazing”. She said one significant support was accessing one-to-one online tutoring.

Applications are now open for eligible young women currently in Year 8. The Harding Miller Education Foundation (HMEF) offers scholarships to students in Australian public high schools. Applicants must be in Year 8 in 2025 to apply.

The aim of the HMEF is to bridge the long-term societal gap of opportunity for girls within the public-school system for those who have high academic potential and are experiencing challenging socio-economic circumstances.

Each scholarship is valued at $20,000 over four years from years 9-12. Scholarship recipients will be provided with resources and support to not only finish high school, but to reach their academic potential and build direct pathways to tertiary education. The scholarships include computers, internet access, money for other equipment and access to tutoring and mentoring.

Students should see Ms Masters if they are interested in applying or need assistance writing a personal statement. For further information, application guidelines and to apply, please visit:

New Level 2 Applications

Applications to move from Level 3 to Level 2 are now open for students who received an A or B for effort and behaviour for all subjects on their Semester 1 report. While reviewing Semester 1 reports, it was wonderful to see the impressive number of Year 7 students who are now eligible for Level 2. Students applying for Level 2 must also have school attendance of 90 percent or above, wear the correct uniform, and consistently demonstrate the school’s behaviour expectations.

Level 1 and 2 Lifelines:

  • A lifeline has been extended to students who are currently on Level 2 but received one or more ‘C’ result for effort and behaviour on their Semester 1 report.
  • These students remain on level 2, and as a part of the lifeline process must check-in with their Head of Year (Ms Masters – Year 7 & 8; Mr Moloney Year 9 & 10; Mrs Kruger Year 11 & 12).
  • Students on a lifeline must also complete Feedback Week which runs during Week 5 of each term.

Tangalooma Year 8 Camp

Thank you to parents/caregivers for supporting students to attend the Tangalooma Camp in December. The next camp payment is $200 due by Friday, 12th September.

Students may use their ‘stamp stash’ for a voucher towards camp payments. To do this they must email the stamp stash store (details posted outside Mr Nielsen’s office), or just pop in to see Mr Nielsen at his office in B block. One thousand points equals a $10 voucher.
