Literacy
This Term, the Preps enjoyed reading many wonderful picture story books that have sparked their imagination and developed their love of reading. One story in particular, The Potato People by Pamela Allen, captured students’ interest and provided opportunities to explore new vocabulary such as gradually, drooped, and exclaimed. Inspired by the story, students used their creativity to create their own potato people.
Maths
The Preps have been learning about addition and subtraction. We sang "10 in the bed" and rolled dice to subtract teddies out of the bed. Preps then wrote the equation in their Maths books; eg 10-4 = 6.
Maths - Measurement
To introduce the concept of measurement, Preps made worms of different lengths using play dough. Through hands-on exploration, students compared and ordered the worms from shortest to longest, building their understanding of length and measurement.
Science
In Science this Term, students explored different materials and learned about their different features. They investigated materials such as wood, plastic, metal and fabric, and discussed how different materials are used for different purposes.
To finish the unit, we read Mrs Honey’s Hat (one of Ms S’s favourite books from when she was in Primary School) and then students decorated their own hats using different materials. This was such a fun activity!
Pamper & Paint - Mother's Day Afternoon
Our Prep students were so excited to welcome their Mums and special people into the classroom for our Pamper and Paint afternoon to celebrate Mother’s Day.
The students loved spending time pampering their guests while enjoying quality time together in our classroom.
It was wonderful to see the joy and excitement on the children’s faces as they celebrated the important people in their lives.
Thank you for joining us and helping make the afternoon so memorable for our Prep students!
Meet the Foundation Classes of 2026: Bendigo's Littlest Learners
Our Prep students were excited to part ofthe Bendigo Advertiser's special Foundation 2026 feature on Wednesday 17 June. The publication celebrated the region's youngest learners and showcased Foundation classes from schools across Bendigo, including ours!
We are proud of our students and loved seeing their smiling faces representing our school in the local community.
