TEAM ACTION TERM 2.

The Energy Breakthrough team has shown enormous dedication and commitment throughout Term 2, with students consistently putting in outstanding effort during track training and spin class sessions. Each Thursday, students have collectively averaged an incredible 280 laps of Tom Flood Sports Centre, demonstrating their determination to improve their endurance and performance. As the term has progressed, it has been exciting to see both fitness levels and riding speeds continue to increase. The positive attitude and perseverance displayed by all team members have set a strong foundation for the season ahead.

Alongside their physical training, students have been actively participating in study sessions to prepare for the Design and Technology component of the Energy Breakthrough program. During these sessions, students have been developing their understanding of key concepts and building valuable content knowledge to support their presentations. They have explored topics related to vehicle design, sustainability, teamwork, and problem-solving. The quality of discussion and engagement has been excellent as students work collaboratively to strengthen their understanding and presentation skills.

This term, students also attended an Energy Breakthrough webinar presented by Game Day Nutrition, where they learned about the important role food plays in fuelling the body for exercise and recovery. The session helped students develop a greater understanding of nutrition and how healthy food choices can support performance and wellbeing. Students then put this knowledge into practice through hands-on food preparation activities. They enjoyed developing practical kitchen skills while creating nutritious smoothies and learning how to make healthy choices before and after physical activity.

A highlight of the term was attending the team's first Test and Tune Day at the Bendigo Livestock Exchange. Students shared the track with a number of other schools, gaining valuable riding experience and additional time behind the handlebars of their vehicle. The day provided a fantastic opportunity to observe other teams, exchange ideas, and learn from the experiences of fellow participants. It was an enjoyable and productive experience that has left students feeling motivated and excited for the racing ahead.

RACING SEASON -

CASEY FIELDS- VICTORIAN HPV SERIES ROUND 2

Round 2 of the Victorian HPV Series at Casey Fields marked an exciting milestone as it was the first race for our fully selected school HPV team, with half of our riders experiencing race day competition for the very first time. Throughout the day, our lead trike was locked in a thrilling battle with Jells Park Primary School and Creek Street, with positions changing regularly as all three teams pushed hard around the circuit.

The racing remained incredibly close for much of the afternoon, creating an exciting spectacle for riders, support crews, and spectators alike. In the final hours, our team found another gear and gradually broke away from the pack to secure its second race victory of the season. The team crossed the finish line four laps ahead of the field, an outstanding achievement that sees us maintain our lead in the Victorian HPV Series state championship standings.

A huge congratulations must also go to Team Whiplash, who welcomed several new riders and competed in their first race of the season. The team rode brilliantly throughout the event and were rewarded with an impressive 6th-place finish overall against a strong field of competitors. We encourage all riders to continue training hard over the school holidays as we prepare for another exciting challenge at Round 3 at Sandown International Raceway.
