From the Head of Boarding

I would like to welcome our new families starting their journey with GSG Boarding in 2025 and extend a warm welcome back to our existing families who have supported and chosen GSG Boarding for their child.

Our vision for a thriving boarding community is to promote open, transparent and honest relationships between staff, students and you, the parents, where ultimately everyone who lives, works or visits our boarding community feels like they belong to a special community within Great Southern Grammar.

In line with the school theme this year "Create Your Impact",I challenge all our boarders to reflect on how your actions, big or small, can shape our community and the world around us. Whether it’s through kindness, leadership, academic excellence, or simply supporting one another, each of you has the power to leave a lasting imprint. So, as we start our new year, I invite you all to embrace this journey together with your child, and our wonderful boarding community.

Our Boarding Team this year consists of Mrs Nyree Mackenzie, Head of Junior Boarding House; Ms Liz Stewart, Head of Senior Girls Boarding House; me as Head of Senior Boys Boarding House and Head of Boarding and Mrs Di Franzinelli, our Boarding Administration Officer. Within our boarding team, we pride ourselves on having the three main qualities of local connection, lived experiences, and passion; these qualities shape the foundation that we believe in conjunction with working with you and your child to add value to their boarding experience.

We aim to demonstrate why boarding can provide a great foundation for your child’s learning and wellbeing, so they see personal success while here at Great Southern Grammar and beyond.

The Boarding Buzz comes out three times each term (Terms One to Three) and twice in Term Four.  Over the year, in our issues of The Boarding Buzz, you can expect to see lots of photos with your child in action, articles from each of the three Boarding Houses and a piece from our Boarding Captain, Chloe Climie, which gives student voice and perspective. In addition to our newsletter, families will receive photos of their child on recreational activities or in and around the houses. These will come from the Heads of Boarding House.

If you have any queries, please don't hesitate to make contact with us.  All of the contact details for GSG Boarding can be found here.
