Gap Assistant Introductions

The thought of moving almost 7,900km away from home to another country was a daunting thought; this now is my reality and I could not be happier with the decision I made. Coming to Australia is the most exciting opportunity that I've been blessed with. Being able to experience and share this journey with the GSG community is something I so look forward to!
Boarding in Breaksea the last few weeks has been such a welcoming environment.
Having come from a big, all girls boarding school in Durban, South Africa, moving into a smaller house with fewer girls has really given me the opportunity to connect and know all the girls on a more personal level. I've really enjoyed getting to know some of the girls and joining them on rec activities and spending afternoons chatting. Evenings spent at Eclipse House playing pool and watching girls play basketball have made this move so much easier as the students here have made me feel a part of their lives.
I am so looking forward to my year here and spending it with these wonderful people at GSG. Thank you for welcoming me here!

How’s it going? I’m Handre De Bruin from Durban in South Africa, one of the new Gappies this year. I would just like to say that this is the first time out of my homeland and I’m having the absolute time of my life! I love being here and I’m so grateful to be here as well. Now let’s get started.
My experience with the boys has been absolutely awesome so far, I enjoy their company, and I hope they enjoy mine. Me and some of the boys mostly play pool or play basketball outside. I mingle quite well with the boys, in my opinion, but there are still some boys that I try to make an effort with that don’t seem too talkative. I’m sure that will change over this year and I’m looking so forward to staying in Eclipse this year. All the staff here are very nice and friendly and I enjoy having chats with all of them.
My experience around Albany is also very nice which I’ve mentioned earlier. My favourite
thing about Albany is the beaches. I absolutely love the beaches. The other Gappies and I have been around Albany and we find it beautiful. Once again, extremely grateful to Mr Ashley Keatch to have me in his boarding house!

Energetic. Loud. Busy. Full. Bubbly.
My name is Kyle Kovacs from Port Elizabeth in South Africa and my time in Endeavour Boarding House so far has been nothing short of amazing. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed into a home away from home, full of energy and laughter. Morning fitness has been a highlight, especially our competitive dodgeball games, which always start the day with plenty of action.
Afternoons are just as enjoyable, whether it’s going for bike rides or walks, or just playing a ‘friendly’ game of Uno after school, or the unforgettable dress-up session. We may have originally planned to put on a play, but the fun of trying on costumes completely took over, so much so that we never actually got around to performing! GSG isn’t ready for our 25 Endeavour boarders to hit Broadway.
Evenings bring everyone together for prep after dinner. It’s been great to help out and see the dedication of the boarders as they settle into school.
Though I’ve only been here for a month, I already feel so lucky to be part of such a fantastic group. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year holds!

My name is Chelsea Greeff and I am from Johannesburg in South Africa. Living in Endeavour has been amazing; it’s been really awesome to see how both the boys and the girls have created a space where they can live together, build relationships, and continuously create a positive environment.
The boys love to go mountain biking while the girls really enjoy playing some netball but it’s nice to see everyone come together to try out each other's interests in our planned rec activities on the weekend or even just slipping down the slip and slide on a really hot day.
It’s really great to see how everyone depends on each other, especially giving a helping hand when they can see a fellow boarder is in need of a little support. Endeavour is a house of positivity and growth and I can’t wait to see how everyone shines throughout this year.
