Lasallian Youth Leaders Shine in ACYF Fundraising Efforts
This term, the Lasallian Youth Leaders (LYLs) at St Aloysius College have gone above and beyond in their efforts to fundraise for their upcoming trip to the Australian Catholic Youth Festival (ACYF), a national gathering of thousands of young Catholics from across the country, held in December. ACYF offers senior students an unforgettable opportunity to grow in faith, deepen their understanding of Catholic identity, and be inspired to live out the Gospel in real and tangible ways.
With eight students registered to attend, the LYLs have shown extraordinary commitment to raising the necessary funds. They have generously given up their time during study periods, after school, and even on weekends, involving not just the College but the wider parish community in their efforts.
Drawing on their diverse strengths, the group has pooled their talents to run a series of creative and highly successful initiatives. Business Services students took charge of stall operations, cash handling, and promotional materials, while mentoring younger volunteers. Hospitality students baked and hand-decorated hundreds of fondant cookies, stamped with positive affirmations and adorable animal motifs, which were sold at weekend Masses with support from Fr James and the St Aloysius Parish community.
A highlight of the term was the donation of 23kg of hot chips from the generous Lancaster family, long-time supporters of the College. The chips were fried, salted, and sold at recess. They were an absolute hit among students! Other crowd favourites included churros with chocolate sauce and hot chocolates, all made from scratch by our senior Hospitality students.
Beyond the fundraising total, what stands out most is the spirit of unity and joy the LYLs have brought to each initiative. They have truly embodied the Lasallian motto of Faith, Service, and Community, and their leadership continues to be a source of inspiration across the college.
