Archbishop Fisher has called for a Sydney Synod in 2026 in response to Holy Spirit-inspired longings from Sydney Catholics for more prayerful liturgies, more Christ-centred communities, and a more mission-oriented Church.
Within our Archdiocese, there is much to give thanks for: vibrant parish communities, increasing vocations, dedicated lay faithful, and a rich variety of initiatives in evangelisation, pastoral care, and social outreach.
In preparation for the Synod, the Archbishop invites you to share your positive, faithful, and practical ideas on how we can become a more prayerful, Christ-centred and missionary people by attending any of the three regional consultations later in the year.
Please get involved by discussing these hopes within your communities and then, by bringing your ideas on how these can be met to our regional consultations. The first regional consultation is this weekend on Saturday, 30 August so please register soon if you would like to attend using the links below. You can register for any one of the three consultations listed below.

The Australian Catholic Youth Festival (ACYF) is a significant national event established by the Australian Catholic Bishops over a decade ago. Held over three inspiring days, the Festival brings together thousands of young people, from Year 9 through to 25 years of age from across the country.
ACYF offers a unique opportunity for young Australians to deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ, connect with peers and Church leaders, and be empowered to live out their faith with confidence and joy. The Festival showcases the vibrancy and diversity of the Catholic Church in Australia through a rich program of activities.

Socktober for Mission Month inspires students to take meaningful action against poverty through the universal language of soccer. This initiative empowers young Australians to lead with purpose, encouraging them to reflect not only on how they can help, but why their help matters. Central to Socktober is the iconic sockball, a symbol of hope and resilience, crafted from recycled materials by children in developing countries. More than just a game, the sockball represents joy and creativity in the face of hardship.
Endorsed by Pope Francis and the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference, Socktober uses sport as a powerful tool to build community, foster empathy, and deepen students’ understanding of global mission.
Mrs O'Connor, along with some students from year 7 and 8 will attend this morning.
All Year 8 students are currently preparing for the upcoming Religious Education (RE) test, scheduled for Tuesday, 21 October. This annual online assessment is undertaken by Catholic school students in Years 6, 8, and 10, and focuses on their understanding of key concepts taught throughout the RE curriculum. The test consists of 50 multiple choice questions. To support their learning, each RE lesson begins with a short quiz of 5–6 questions based on current class content. Families are encouraged to assist their child by helping them review key terminology and practise these questions at home, reinforcing their knowledge and boosting confidence ahead of the test.
Graduation Practice – Monday, 22 September
All graduating students are expected to attend the full day graduation practice on Monday, 22 September, to ensure a smooth and memorable celebration on Wednesday. Students should arrive at the College at the usual school time for morning rehearsals in the College Hall. In the afternoon, they will walk to St Aloysius Church, Cronulla, for a graduation Mass practice.
This marks a significant milestone, celebrating 13 years of schooling and we look forward to sharing this special occasion with families. The Graduation Assembly will take place on Wednesday 24 September, with guests invited to arrive at 9:30am for a 10:00am start. That evening, we will gather again for the Graduation Mass at St Aloysius Church, beginning at 6:00pm. Students are asked to arrive by 5:30pm.
On the final day of term, staff will be off-site for a time of reflection, inspired by Pope Francis’ declaration of 2025 as a Jubilee Year, ‘Pilgrims of Hope’, a call to renew our spirit in a world longing for healing and unity.
As Pope Francis stated, “the forthcoming Jubilee can contribute greatly to restoring a climate of hope and trust as a prelude to the renewal and rebirth that we so urgently desire; that is why I have chosen as the motto of the Jubilee, Pilgrims of Hope.”
Thank you for supporting the Vinnies Appeal
