Leader of Year 8 Wellbeing
Miss Rebecca Hines
As we move through Term 3, I am proud to share some highlights and important reminders from the past few weeks. Our Year 8 students continue to show growth, resilience, and creativity across all areas of school life.
We continue to encourage students to be active upstanders in our community. Whether it’s checking in on a friend who seems quiet, offering support during tough moments, or reporting bullying when they see it. These small actions make a big difference. We remind all students that speaking up is a sign of strength, not weakness, and that our pastoral team is always here to listen and help. Parents, please continue these conversations at home and reinforce the message: kindness is powerful, and no one should feel alone.
A huge congratulations to Year 8 for their dedication in preparing for their exam block. Their focus and effort have been commendable, and it’s clear many are developing strong study habits. This week, students were completing their Religion and Maths Assessment tasks and were given a study period on Tuesday to focus on these tasks. The Year 8 Homeroom teachers reported that Year 8 worked really well during this period and commended them on their efforts. In week 8, students will be completing their Geography task, and we encourage them to maintain their momentum. Looking ahead, Term 4’s exam block will take place in Week 5, so the preparation they’re doing now will set them up for success later in the year. Keep up the great work!
Our Thursday morning liturgies have been a beautiful reflection of the values and creativity within Year 8. Last week, Mrs Vukovic’s class led a thoughtful liturgy on body image, sharing powerful videos they created during their “content creator” activity in classes. Their messages were heartfelt and inspiring.
This week, Mr Hillman’s class will lead a liturgy focused on celebrating each other’s strengths and differences. This is a timely reminder of the importance of inclusion and appreciation in our community.
We’re also looking forward to Mrs Stevens’ class next week, and can’t wait to see what meaningful reflections they bring to the space.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Year 8 is thriving because of the strong connection between home and school. If you have any questions or would like to connect with the Year 8 team, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
