Principals' Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

A warm welcome to Week 4! We hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable weekend with family and friends and thoroughly enjoyed the better weather. This Thursday and Friday we will be attending the Armidale Catholic Schools Principals Conference for Term 3 in Armidale.

Thank you - Father Sabu

As a school community, we've been incredibly blessed and fortunate to have Father Sabu with us here at St. Joseph's. We've recently been informed that Father Sabu will be moving to the Maitland/Newcastle Diocese to continue his work expanding his order, the Rogationists. Father Sabu's last weekend with our parish will be August 30 and 31.

We invite you to join us in thanking Father Sabu for his spiritual guidance, support, thoughtfulness, and dedication to our school. We wish him all the best in his new leadership role. On Monday, September 1, we will welcome Father Saji, who will take over the role of Parish Administrator for St Patrick's Parish.

Mary MacKillop

Mary MacKillop is Australia's first and only saint. Mary MacKillop died in Sydney on August 8, 1909. She was canonised as Saint Mary of the Cross on October 17, 2010. Together with Julian Tenison-Woods, she founded Australia's first religious order, the Sisters of St Joseph (the Josephites). The Josephites were a congregation of religious sisters that established a number of schools, including our school here in Tamworth, and welfare institutions throughout Australia and New Zealand, with an emphasis on education. We are fortunate to have Sister Kathryn with us as she continues the work of the Josephites in our school and Parish community. Stage 2 celebrated the feast day of Mary MacKillop by attending Mass with our Parish community last Thursday 8th August at 9:00am. Thank you to Father Sabu for celebrating Mass and for his informative homily for our students.

Athletics Carnival - 2025

Congratulations to everyone on your enthusiastic participation in our recent athletics carnival in very cool and damp conditions. You should be very proud of your wonderful efforts!

Well done to all the staff on their work preceding the carnival and on the day, especially our convenor Mr Paterson who patiently reorganised our carnival so our students had the opportunity to qualify for the Armidale Catholic Schools Carnival. A massive thank you to the P&F and their many helpers for your awesome efforts in supplying food and drinks on the day. It was certainly appreciated by all in attendance.

Finally, well done to those children who qualified for the Armidale Catholic Schools Athletics Carnival to be held in Tamworth tomorrow. Hopefully it will be a warm and sunny day.

Wishing all members of the St Joseph's School community all the best for a great week.
