Dear Families, 

What a term it has been! Congratulations to all our First Eucharist candidates who have received this special sacrament, and we wish those celebrating this Sunday a beautiful and memorable day. The celebrations have been wonderful, with students showing great reverence and looking amazing. Thank you to our families for preparing and supporting the children throughout their sacramental journey.

We also enjoyed our Sports Day, with students proudly wearing a variety of sporting attire, including colours and clothing representing their favourite teams. We wish all families a safe and restful break and look forward to welcoming students back for Term 4 on Monday, 5 October.

Learning in Term 4:

Religious Education:

Next term in Religious Education, students will begin our new unit, Your Mission, Should You Choose to Accept It? They will explore the life and mission of Jesus, discovering how his words and actions reveal his message of love, hope and service. Through the mysteries of the Rosary, students will reflect on important events in Jesus’ life and consider how they are called to continue his mission today. 

English:

In Term 4, students will explore the text The Wild Robot and develop their understanding of persuasive writing. They will learn how to structure persuasive letters, develop convincing arguments and use persuasive language to influence their audience.

Mathematics:

Next term in Mathematics, students will focus on developing their understanding of fractions. They will explore equivalent fractions, locate and represent fractions on number lines, compare fractions with related denominators, and connect fractions to everyday situations. Students will use visual models and mathematical strategies to explain their thinking and solve problems involving fractions.

Integrated Curriculum:

Next term in Integrated Studies, students will explore dance and music through creating, performing and responding to movement and rhythm. They will develop confidence, creativity and teamwork as they express ideas and explore how movement and music can communicate stories, emotions and meaning. 

Auslan:

In Term 4, students will continue to develop their Auslan communication and visual storytelling skills. They will learn how to describe objects using adjectives and Size and Shape Specifier (SASS) signs, and explore how some Auslan signs visually represent the objects or actions they describe. Students will build their vocabulary by learning signs for a variety of animals, including farm, zoo, sea and winged animals. They will also develop their ability to depict and enact the movements of people, animals and objects, create simple signed stories using descriptive phrases, and explore how eye gaze can be used to show changes in viewpoints and events within a signed story.

Social & Emotional Learning:

In Term 4, students will revisit The St Thomas Way and our school-wide expectations. They will also explore Day for Daniel, safety networks and trusted adults, as well as positive gender relations, with a focus on respectful relationships and making safe choices.

Year 7 Enrolment St Peter’s College 2029

St Peter's College has advised that enrolments for 2029 are filling quickly, with only limited places remaining. If you have not yet submitted your child's enrolment application for St Peter's College for 2029, we encourage you to do so as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Please note that enrolment at St Thomas the Apostle does not guarantee a place at St Peter's College.
