Let’s take stock of Term 3!
Everything we achieve in the Resource Centre would not be possible without the members of our wider community. From everyday tasks, such as borrowing 2,156 resources, to the volunteers who spent time setting up our Annual Book Fair and the amazing work our staff and students do for our annual Book Week celebrations, below are a few more highlights from the term that we would like to acknowledge. This coming week, the Premier's Reading Challenge is coming to a close for yet another year.
I would also love to take the opportunity to thank all members of our community who have volunteered in our space during Term 3. In supporting these activities and tasks, you assist in providing a well organised, fun and positive experience for students and staff.
New Arrivals
Book Week Awards and Student Voting
At the conclusion of Book Week, I had the pleasure of counting our students' votes for the Early Childhood, Picture Book and Eve Pownall (Non Fiction) CBCA Award categories.
Below is an infographic that I created comparing our community’s opinions with those of the CBCA judges and Shadow Judges.
With the support of my Year 6 volunteers, we also drew the raffle for the winning students in the three main categories.

Premiers Reading Challenge (PRC)
As we head into the final week of Term 3, it is time to ensure that all students participating in the Premier's Reading Challenge (PRC) have added their books to their reading records. The final submission date is Friday, 18 September.
As a guide, the table below outlines the number of books students at each year level are expected to read, including both PRC books and free-choice books. Please check that your child's reading record is up to date before the closing date.

I am excited to say that, of the 25 active students on Moama Anglican Grammar’s PRC website, 22 have already been validated, so thank you for being diligent and proactive in the process.
Book Fair Revisit
After our Book Fair, I received this email from our Book Fair consultant. The first bolded phrase is the exciting part, as it highlights that this was our best Book Fair ever. In speaking with Erin, she explained that our sales have increased year on year, which is fantastic and would not be possible without the support of our families purchasing new products, as well as our dedicated adult and student volunteers.
Congratulations on hosting your best Book Fair ever – what a fabulous achievement for you and your wonderful team! This success is a true reflection of the enthusiasm, effort, and passion you bring to your centre and community.Thank you for the incredible role you play in fostering a love of reading in our youngest learners. The impact you are making goes far beyond the fair itself – by building a strong reading culture, you are opening doors to imagination, curiosity, and lifelong learning. For many children, these are the first steps in discovering the joy of stories and the confidence that comes from engaging with books.Your commitment to nurturing a love of reading is a gift that will shape not only their early learning years but also their future educational journeys.

Book Fair reorders
I am happy to report that all Book Fair reorders have now been delivered to classrooms and are in the hands of their new owners.
Primary School Reading – Caring for our library Books
We love seeing our students borrow books and develop a passion for reading. Our library collection provides wonderful opportunities for learning, imagination and enjoyment, and we greatly appreciate the support of families in helping us care for these shared resources.
Transporting Books Between School and Home
We are noticing that some library resources are being returned with varying degrees of damage, including water damage, pet-related damage and, in some cases, damage of an unknown cause.
Our aim is to ensure that books are available for all members of our School community to enjoy. To help us keep our collection in good condition, we ask that borrowed books are protected when travelling to and from School.
Book Protection
Students in Kindergarten to Year 2 are required to use a library bag when borrowing resources.
We also strongly encourage students in Years 3 to 6 to use a library bag or another form of protective cover to help prevent accidental damage.
By taking this extra care, we can ensure that our books remain in excellent condition for everyone to enjoy.
Thank you for your support in helping us maintain our library collection so that all students can continue to experience the joy of borrowing, reading and discovering new books.

Passwords
If you haven’t received your new password yet, please contact the Resource Centre at library@moamagrammar.nsw.edu.au. We’ll ensure your password is sent to you as soon as possible.
Borrowing and Returns
Students may borrow and return books before school, at recess, lunchtime, and after school. Primary School students also have the opportunity to borrow during their fortnightly Library lessons, with books due back at their next session. Students in Years 7–9 have now begun visiting the Resource Centre regularly. Their books are due two weeks after the date of borrowing.
Borrowing Permissions
If students are requesting to borrow books above their age level, we request parents to write a letter regarding their permission for their child to borrow and read a specific book, which will be reviewed by library staff.
Renewals
Students may renew their books for an additional two weeks by speaking to staff at the Library Circulation Desk. If a further extension is required after this period, students must bring the book with them so staff can sight it before approving the renewal. Students may also renew their books by emailing the Library or by logging on to the school Library website, which is accessible through their SEQTA account.
Requests
If your child would like to borrow a specific book and the title is not included in our current catalogue, we will add this to our purchase wishlist.
Overdue notices
If you receive an overdue notice, there is a chance that the books may have been processed through our system after the email was sent. We encourage all parents to follow up on any issues by emailing the Resource Centre at library@moamagrammar.nsw.edu.au
Reading Permissions
Due to our shared space catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 12, our library collection is organised to help students easily find books with protagonists close to their own age. For example, in the Upper Primary section, most of the characters are between 11 and 13 years old. This approach ensures that themes and content remain age-appropriate, and also supports students in reading independently and with confidence.
When deciding where books are placed within the collection, we are guided by author and publisher recommendations.
