MAG Netball Teams Compete at National All Schools Championships
Our Year 7/8 and Year 9/10 Netball teams recently represented MAG at the National All Schools Championships on the Gold Coast, competing against some of the strongest school teams from across Australia.
The championships provided an outstanding opportunity for our students to test themselves at a national level and experience their first introduction to a high-performance team environment. Throughout the tournament, both teams demonstrated commitment, competitiveness, resilience and outstanding sportsmanship, embracing every challenge and competing with determination and pride.
The growth displayed across the week was particularly noteworthy. Students continued to develop their skills, confidence and understanding of the game, while also learning the importance of teamwork, perseverance, accountability and supporting one another in a high-performance setting.
Beyond the results, the championships highlighted the character of our students and their ability to compete with respect, courage and integrity. These are qualities that extend well beyond the netball court and reflect the broader values we seek to develop through sport at MAG.
A special thank you to Mrs Gina Pearson, Mrs Belinda Lees, Mrs Adele Ridge and parent Suzie Williams for their time, commitment and support throughout the championships. Their coaching, team management and care for the students played an important role in providing our girls with such a valuable introduction to a high-performance sporting environment.
Congratulations to all players and coaches on an outstanding tournament and for representing MAG with such pride.
Combined Independent Schools (CIS) Primary Athletics Championships
It was a wonderful day in Sydney as 26 MAG athletes proudly represented Riverina Associated Schools (RAS) at the CIS Primary Athletics Championships last 4 September.
Our students performed exceptionally well throughout the day, producing some amazing results and recording numerous personal bests. Their hard work, determination and positive attitude were evident across all events, and it was fantastic to see them competing against some of the best young athletes from some of the largest independent schools across the state.
A major highlight of the day was our Senior Girls Relay team, comprising Mea Whitelegg, Tahlie Clydesdale, Maya Woolman and Savannah Dicker, who produced an outstanding performance to claim the bronze medal and finish third overall. The girls should be incredibly proud of their achievement.
Another fantastic result came from Savannah Dicker, who secured a gold medal in the Long Jump with an excellent performance. This was a fantastic achievement and a great reward for her hard work and preparation.
Congratulations to all 26 athletes on representing MAG and RAS with such pride. We are incredibly proud of the way our students competed, supported one another and embraced the opportunity to compete at such a high level.
A huge thank you to Mrs Moore and Mrs Deller for their support, encouragement and care of the students throughout the day. Their assistance helped make the experience a memorable one for all involved. Finally, a huge thanks to Mrs Kate Downward for her efforts in the lead-up to the CIS carnival.

National Snowboard Championships
Nixon Lyle proudly represented Moama Anglican Grammar at the National Snowboard Championships, competing in the Division 2 Boys Snowboard events. Nixon achieved fantastic results, placing 18th in the Snowboard Giant Slalom (GS) and 19th in the Snowboard Cross (SBX).
Qualifying for the Australian Championships and competing at a national level is a significant achievement. Nixon should be extremely proud of his efforts and the way he represented both himself and the School throughout the competition.
Congratulations, Nixon, on this outstanding accomplishment. We look forward to following your continued success in snowboarding.
Netball NSW Schools Cup Phase 2
Our Year 7/8 and Year 9/10 girls' netball teams participated in Phase 2 of the Netball NSW Schools Cup. They competed against teams from Wagga, Tumut, Griffith and Young.
Both teams finished undefeated after their four pool matches, placing them in the crossover matches. Both had remarkably close contests but unfortunately missed a spot in the grand final.
They then played Kooringal High School for third and fourth position. The Year 9/10 team came from behind to win by four, but the Year 7/8 team left their run too late.
All girls performed well, consistently displaying our School values both on and off the court.
Thank you to Sharon Moon and Renea Harris for umpiring, and Ms Bowman for coaching the Year 7/8 team at short notice in Mrs Lees' absence.
Equestrian Squad Update
We enjoyed another fantastic afternoon of Equestrian Squad, with two groups of keen and enthusiastic riders continuing to develop their skills and confidence in the saddle.
One group participated in games training with Miss Stewart, focusing on control, manoeuvrability and rider coordination through a variety of engaging activities. The second group worked with Miss Briggs, completing grid and pole exercises designed to improve balance, rhythm, accuracy and horse and rider partnership.
It was wonderful to see all riders making steady progress. Across both sessions, our squad members demonstrated growing confidence, improved independence and a willingness to challenge themselves while supporting one another.
Rider Shout Outs
Ginger Whipp for her outstanding effort and determination during the pole work session with her pony, Honey. Ginger showed excellent focus and perseverance throughout the exercises.
Scarlette Roberts for skillfully manoeuvring her big horse, King Julien, around the tight games activities. A fantastic effort, demonstrating control, planning and teamwork with her horse.
We are proud of the positive attitude and commitment shown by all riders and look forward to seeing their continued progress at our next squad session.

Learn to Row – Information Session
Calling all students in Years 8–10 - come find out about an exciting new sporting opportunity!
Join us for a Learn to Row information session on Tuesday 15 September at 1pm in the School Gym, AT4.
We are on the lookout for new rowers to join the squad and train under our experienced coaches. The Learn to Row program kicks off in Bendigo on 5–6 October (Week 1, Term 4), before the squad progresses to the Murray River as part of the SIMS program later in the term.
No experience necessary - just enthusiasm and a willingness to give it a go!

A reminder to parents, guardians and carers of students participating in selected Before and After School Co-Curricular Sport Squads and Representative Teams: if you have not yet joined Heja, please take a few minutes to complete the set-up.
Heja is now our primary method of communication for important operational updates, including:
- Urgent cancellations or changes
- Training and fixture times
- Venue reminders
- Weather impacts
Squad coordination and RSVP/attendance prompts
What you need to do:
- Download the Heja app from the App Store or Google Play.
- Use the relevant Group Access Code(s) to join your child’s squad(s) or representative team.
Keep notifications turned on so you don’t miss important updates.
