Primary School

What a wonderful start to the day our Father’s Day Breakfast was! We were delighted to welcome fathers, grandfathers, uncles and other significant people in our students’ lives to share a delicious breakfast and celebrate the important role they play in our School community. The morning was filled with smiles, laughter, musical entertainment, fun games and excitement around the raffle prizes generously donated by our sponsors. It was fantastic to see families, students and staff connecting and enjoying time together before the school day began.

We extend our sincere thanks to our dedicated staff, parent volunteers and sponsors whose generosity and support helped make the event such a success. A special thank you to the Parents and Friends Association for organising and running the Father’s Day Stall, giving students the opportunity to purchase a thoughtful gift for the special people in their lives. Events like these strengthen the sense of community that makes Moama Anglican Grammar such a special place, and we thank everyone who attended and contributed to a memorable morning.

Year 2 History Excursion 

Year 2 students enjoyed a wonderful History excursion to Gunbower Estate and Rowans Gibson Farm, where they explored how farming practices and technology have changed over time on Wednesday 9 September. Luckily, the weather was sunny, although breezy.

At Gunbower Estate, students stepped back in time as they toured the historic property, including the old milking shed, stables and kitchen areas. They examined artefacts and learnt about daily life on farms in the past, comparing it with life today. Students asked thoughtful questions and were excited to discover how people lived and worked many years ago.

After lunch and playtime, students visited Rowans Gibson Farm, where they saw a modern dairy farm in operation. A highlight of the visit was learning about the Lely robotic milking systems and seeing how technology is used to support farmers and care for livestock. Students were fascinated by the differences between traditional and modern farming methods.

The excursion provided valuable real-world connections to our History learning and helped students develop a deeper understanding of change over time. We are very proud of the way Year 2 students represented our School, demonstrating curiosity, respect and excellent behaviour throughout the day.

A big thank you to our hosts, Jo and Alistair Gibson, at Rowans Gibson Farm and John Pearce at Gunbower Estate for providing such an engaging and memorable learning experience for our students.

Ride to School

On Thursday the 3rd of September, we got a group of boys to come together for a Ride to School Day. We planned this event as part of our Pastoral Care classes and promoted it for positive wellbeing, connecting with other people, and making friends. This gave students who like to ride bikes a chance to come together and start the day with friends who share a common interest. Some comments from the students who participated:

Victoria School Championships – Primary Netball

On Wednesday 2 September, our Year 5/6 Girls’ Netball Squad proudly represented Moama Anglican Grammar at the Victorian Schools Primary Netball Championships, competing against strong school teams from across Victoria.

The girls enjoyed an outstanding day of netball, remaining in third or fourth position on the ladder for much of the competition while consistently displaying excellent skill, determination and teamwork. In Round 6, the team delivered a brilliant performance to move into first place, putting themselves in a strong position heading into the final round.

While a narrow three goal loss in their final match meant they just missed out on a semi-final berth, the girls should be incredibly proud of their efforts. Throughout the day, they demonstrated resilience, sportsmanship and a wonderful commitment to one another, representing our School with pride.

Congratulations to all players on a fantastic achievement and a memorable day of competition.

A very special thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers, Ashley Campbell and Rachael Whitelegg, whose coaching, encouragement and support played an invaluable role throughout the day. We are incredibly grateful for your generosity and commitment to our students.

NSW Schools Cup – Phase Two 

On Wednesday 9 September, our Year 5/6 Mixed Netball Squad competed in Phase Two of the NSW Schools Cup. 

The team played exceptionally well throughout the day, demonstrating fantastic teamwork and determination. Their strong performances saw them finish on top of the ladder in their division heading into the finals. 

In a closely contested finals match, the team unfortunately went down by just 2 goals. They bounced back strongly in their final game, securing a 6-goal victory to finish an impressive 3rd overall out of all teams.

A special thank you to Mrs Gina Pearson and Mrs Kiralee Pascoe for their time and commitment to training the team, coaching and supporting the students on competition days. 

Spotlight on Kindergarten 

Our Kindergarten students have made fantastic progress in their writing! They are becoming confident recount writers, using time connectives to sequence their ideas and beginning to include adjectives to make their writing more interesting. We are especially proud of their beautiful letter formation and the care they are taking to write neatly on the lines. Our little authors are certainly shining! 

Spotlight on Stage 3

Recently, 6B students visited their 1B buddies for a fun and creative learning session! As part of their spelling lessons, 1B has been learning about the trigraph ‘air’ sound. To help bring their learning to life, our 6B students worked alongside their buddies to create their very own hair crafts, with support from Miss Greenwood and Mrs Reid.

It was wonderful to see our Year 6 students taking on leadership roles, encouraging and supporting their younger buddies throughout the activity. These special Buddies sessions provide a wonderful opportunity for students across Primary to build friendships, develop leadership skills and learn together.

We loved seeing our students learning, creating and connecting together!

Push, Pull, Create! Year 2's Toy Design Adventure 

Our Year 2 students have thoroughly enjoyed becoming young scientists and engineers through the Toy Design Challenge. As part of their learning about pushes, pulls and forces, students designed and created a toy at home that moves using a push or pull force. We were delighted by the creativity, effort and problem solving on display, with students proudly sharing a wonderful variety of inventions including balloon rockets, paper planes, wheeled cars, ramps, seesaws, large catapults and spinning tops, as well as many unique original designs. It was fantastic to see students applying their classroom learning in such practical and engaging ways. 

Throughout the project, students investigated how forces can make objects start, stop, speed up, slow down or change direction. They tested their creations, explained the push or pull force involved, and reflected on ways they could improve their designs. The confidence and enthusiasm shown during presentations highlighted the strong connection between scientific thinking and creative design. Thank you to our families for supporting this hands-on learning experience. The students were incredibly proud to showcase their toys and demonstrate their growing understanding of science in action. 

Jump Rope for Heart update 

As we head into our final week of the Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser, we are incredibly excited to share that, as a school, we have already raised over $11,500 for the Heart Foundation!  

This is an amazing achievement and is a wonderful reflection of the generosity and enthusiasm of our students, families and wider school community. 

Our students have worked hard to improve their skipping skills, stay active and get behind this important cause. With Jump Off Day fast approaching, we are looking forward to celebrating their efforts and finishing the fundraiser on a high! 

A huge thank you to everyone who has donated, fundraised, skipped and supported our students throughout the campaign. Every contribution has made a difference!  

Early Stage 1 News 

As we approach the end of Term 3, we would like to congratulate all of our Kindergarten students on a successful and productive term. It has been wonderful to see the growth in their confidence, independence, and learning as they continue to embrace new challenges and opportunities. A special congratulations to the students who were recently recognised with a Kinder Superstar Award. These students consistently demonstrate our school values and are positive role models within our Kindergarten community. We are incredibly proud of their efforts and achievements. As we look ahead to Term 4, we are excited for a busy and rewarding final term. There will be many engaging learning experiences, special events, and opportunities for students to continue developing their skills and confidence as they prepare for the exciting transition to Year 1. 

Stage 3 Assembly 

On Wednesday the 9th of September, Stage 3 students came together for their assembly, which was hosted by Aarav Sharma and Dusty Watson from Year 6A. Oskar read the Acknowledgement of Country, and Flynn led the opening prayer. Mr Ward shared important messages with students, reminding the Year 5 and 6 students about their new play spaces. 

The assembly also celebrated a range of exciting achievements and ongoing opportunities. Evie and Sadie from 5A talked about the recent Year 5 camp, and Will G. and Lily shared about Year 7 Transition Day. Some recent sport highlights came from Sophie and Evie, who told us about the Netball Competition recently held in Melbourne, and Savannah and Mea, who shared highlights of the recent CIS Athletics held in Sydney last week. Hooman and Nina reminded us about Jump Rope for Heart and the latest fundraising update. Lastly, Akain and Arturo invited us to join the Language Club that is held every Monday at lunchtime. 

Mr Ward concluded the assembly by presenting the Stage 3 Certificates, recognising students for their outstanding efforts and achievements. Overall, it was a fantastic assembly celebrating the many accomplishments, opportunities and positive contributions of students across Stage 3.

As we approach the end of the term and transition into our summer uniform period, now is a great time to check our Lost Property for any items your child may have misplaced. It is also a good opportunity to check that your child has not accidentally taken home any items belonging to another student over the course of the term.
