The library is celebrating Multicultural Day this week by engaging students (and staff) in an interactive activity. Students are invited to place a pin on the world map(s) to show where their family originates. Students with an Indigenous background are encouraged to place a pin on Australia.
It’s not too late to sign up for the Premier’s Reading Challenge! The Challenge is open to students in Years 7 to 10, and those who sign-up are required to read at least 15 books by early September. Students who complete the Challenge are given a pizza lunch and go into a draw to win a Dymocks gift voucher. See a library staff member for more information!

Book of the Week
The 5th Wave
by Rick Yancey
Earth is being overrun by the “Others” – alien beings who have been hiding in plain sight around the world for years, inhabiting human bodies, waiting for the time to come to take over...
The ‘fifth wave’ is the final stage of the Others’ plan to conquer Earth – and nobody knows what’s coming. 16-year-old Cassie finds herself alone, and on the run, after the death of her father and the kidnap of her little brother, Sam. Cassie wonders if she is the last human left on Earth, until she meets the mysterious Evan Walker…
Meanwhile ‘Zombie’ has been recruited to fight the Others by the remaining military. He and six other kids have trained together as a unit for months, and now they’re ready to leave the army base and go on a real mission. They do well in their first battle – almost too well – and they begin to suspect that they may not have been told the truth…
The 5th Wave is a fast-paced sci-fi thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole way through. It is full of tension, paranoia, and heart-pounding action – I can’t wait to read the sequel!
