Chappy Pancake Breakfast

Our pancake breakfast this week was a wonderful success!

Students and staff gathered to share delicious pancakes, plenty of smiles, and great conversation.

We brought out the chaplaincy 9 - Square game that students continued to play during Morning tea and Lunch. It was especially special for our Grade 7 students, who enjoyed their first pancake breakfast experience and have asked for it to be a daily occurrence!

Chaplaincy continues to bring joy and connection to our school community, and we look forward to these breakfasts during week 5 each term.

We’re also excited that Chaplaincy has been able to extend Kristen, our Chappy, to work Monday–Thursday.

This fantastic change means more time for student support, connection, and care across the school.

QATSIF Scholarships

Our school is proud to support students through the QATSIF Scholarship, delivered by the Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Foundation. This important program awards financial assistance to eligible Year 11 and 12 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to support students to achieve their academic and personal goals.

The funding for QATSIF scholarships comes from the interest earned on monies held in the former Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Welfare Fund. These funds include wages that were withheld from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workers under past government policies, often referred to as Stolen Wages.

Today, the interest generated from these funds is directed toward supporting the education of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students across Queensland. This approach ensures that the legacy of those withheld wages now contributes positively to future generations through access to education and opportunity.

Making a Difference

One of our 2026 QATSIF Scholarship Recipients, Year 11 Student Luka, recently attended the QATSIF New Recipients Ceremony at ACU Banyo. During the celebration, Luka, along with over 2000 students from across the state, was awarded his scholarship and represented The Gap State High School with pride and respect. Luka joins 5 of our current Year 12 students who have also been awarded the scholarship.
