National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is an annual event organised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Every year, millions of participants across the country gather in schools, libraries, and homes to read the exact same Australian children's picture book at the exact same time.

  • Purpose: To promote the value and joy of reading, while celebrating Australian authors and illustrators.
  • Scope: It is one of Australia's largest collective reading events, regularly drawing over two million participants across thousands of locations.
  • Participation: It is completely free, and anyone—from schools and pre-schools to families at home—can join in.

How It Works

At an allocated time, a designated host or educator reads the selected picture book out loud to their group, while hundreds of thousands of others do the exact same thing simultaneously all over the country. Participants then complete related activities, crafts, and discussions.

Library Borrowing:

Many students are enjoying their library loans and we have lots of new titles on the shelves. Please encourage your child/ren to borrow and share their books with you at home. Year 3-6 students are working hard to earn stickers on their loyalty cards!
