Our First Communion candidates attended Commitment Masses at St. John Vianney's Church and St. Patrick's Church last weekend as part of their preparation to receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist for the first time on June 14th.

First Communion Reflection Day

There is a Reflection Day and First Communion celebration organised for Tuesday, 2nd June. This will include all Grade 3 students and First Communion candidates from other year levels. The children can wear casual clothes on this day, and lunch will be provided. The children will participate in activities, prayer and practice on this day. There will also be a bread-making incursion, focusing on an important symbol of the Eucharist.

National Reconciliation Week

This week is National Reconciliation Week. We acknowledge and celebrate our strong links to our First Nations' people, as we walk together in forgiveness, hope, reconciliation, and in the spirit of inclusion, we pray:

Lord God, bring us together as one,

Reconciled with you and reconciled with each other.

You made us in your likeness,

You gave us your Son, Jesus Christ.

He has given us forgiveness from sin.

Lord God, bring us together as one,

Different in culture, but given new life in Jesus Christ,

Together as your body, your Church, your people.

Lord God, bring us together as one,

Reconciled, healed, forgiven,

Sharing you with others as you have called us to do.

In Jesus Christ, let us be together as one.

Amen.

OUR LADY HELP OF CHRISTIANS- May 25th

Monday was the feast day of Mary, Help of Christians, and it has been celebrated in Australia since 1844. The young church in Australia had a special reason for turning to Mary. Mass was not allowed until 1820. It was largely the Rosary in those early days of the Church that kept the faith alive. Catholic Australia remained faithful to Mary and was the first nation to choose her under the title "Help of Christians" as its national Patroness.
