Trade Kitchen

Welcome back!

The Trade Kitchen Program provides opportunities for students to work in a simulated Café/Canteen, preparing and serving healthy meals and snacks for the students and staff of Heatherwood School and the staff at the Statewide Vision Resource Centre (SVRC).  With over 25 Year 10 students on the roster, students will be rostered once or twice per term.

Senior students work towards their VET certificates and design the Thursday daily specials that link with their Sandwiches and Simple meals units. Senior students have successfully prepared fresh Egg and Lettuce sandwiches, Teriyaki Chicken Wraps (Tianna’s suggestion) and Dumplings for Lunar New Year (suggested by Jackie).

The Trade Kitchen menu is available to download from the school website, Sentral, and in the newsletter. Students can collect printed copies of the menu from the canteen. Please note that some prices for a few items have increased due to rising supplier and/or food costs. We try to cater for most dietary requirements, but we may need advance notice to supply specific foods.

2026 New Canteen Prices

Thank you for your support of the Trade Kitchen program, and please let us know if you have any questions, suggestions or feedback to improve the Trade Kitchen menu.

Trade Kitchen will start on Monday, 2nd Feb, and operate Monday - Thursday, with Year 10 and senior students preparing and serving nutritious meals, snacks, and treats.  Please use the new 2026 order form linked below to order lunch.  Students are asked to bring their order forms and payment (cash and/or card) to the gym canteen window at the beginning of school (8.30 am-9.30 am).

We aim to cater for all dietary requirements to the best of our ability.  Daily Specials ($5) change each day and range from salads, pasta and soups to stir-fry, mexican and baked potatoes according to seasonal produce and weather.  Each day, a different cake, muffin, slice or fruit salad is freshly prepared.  Healthy meat pies, vegetable pasties, sausage rolls, etc. are only available to order on Thursday.  Please get in touch with the Trade Kitchen Team if you have any inquiries.

With cost increases of some ingredients, and price increases with foods and packaging from our suppliers, there will be changes to the prices of some of our menu items for 2026. The 2026 menu with adjusted prices will be added to the school website and available from the office and the trade kitchen. You will be unable to use old copies of the 2025 menu.
