Performing Arts

Hi Everyone!

It’s been a very busy few weeks in Performing Arts with the upper year groups choosing their costumes for their Drama performances this term!

Foundation

Foundation students have been developing their expressive skills by acting as the different characters in Little Red Riding Hood. They have also expressed the setting of the story (the forest) by using their bodies and hand gestures. This week, they also had the opportunity to put their hand print on the wall mural at the apple orchard side of the school.

Year One and Two

Year One and Two students have created freeze frames to summarise the story of Cinderella. They have also used the same skills to summarise Jack and The Beanstalk. Once they understood the plot of the story, they combined all their expressive skills to retell the story of Jack and the Beanstalk in one minute!

Year Three and Four

Year Three and Four students have achieved the goal of memorising their lines for their scripted plays and have worked really hard to embody their characters. Year Threes have enjoyed acting as pirates in their play called ‘Treasure Hunt’ and Year Fours had lots of fun choosing costumes for their eccentric characters in the ‘Tingaling Contest’.

Year Five and Six

Year Five and Six students have completed their Clowning routines and designed their own props for their final performance in Week Ten. They have learnt how to improve their routines by adding certain drama techniques such as miming, melodrama, mimicry and slapstick. It’s been lots of fun!

Dance Club

Dance Club started with a bang this year! The dancers are back and have just showcased their first performance of the year, at last week’s Harmony Day Assembly! The dance, called ‘Better Place’, was put together in three weeks so well done, team!

We can’t wait to see all the performances at the end of term!
