Year Five/Six News

Classroom Challenges
Over the past few weeks, we have been learning about multiplication and division. We have faced some challenges when learning new strategies, but we have worked through them and come out on the other side with greater confidence. In multiplication, we have explored strategies such as the area model, the lattice method, and the traditional algorithm. These have helped us deepen our understanding of how multiplication works and given us multiple ways to solve problems. In division, we have been learning both short division and long division. Many of us have found long division particularly challenging, but we have shown persistence and are making progress and improving our understanding.
Year 5 Adventure & Year 6 Creativity
Welcome back to our Year 5 students after an amazing time away at Roses Gap Camp. We have had positive reports all round, with students challenging themselves and facing their fears of heights with courage and resilience!
While the Year 6 students were back at school, they continued with the learning program as usual and showed great engagement. They also got a little crafty, creating self-portrait artworks that reflected who they are and the things they enjoy, highlighting what makes each of them unique.
